I understand Ilian's motivations. From his perspective, blowing up alpha station made perfect sense

I still love this character and I'm curious to see where this will go. How will everyone see him and treat him in the aftermath?

Completely agree with everyone on Riley. Blegh

Still not liking this character one bit

and would rather have seen his screentime go to other characters. I do think though that Riley's scenes were a plot device to show us where Bellamy's at in terms of emotional development, nothing more. (And to add some tension of course

)

I think everybody agrees on Riley, unusual for this fandom.

Would have made more sense if it was a person we already know though, it's why I think it's true he got the arc Bryan was supposed to get if the actor wasn't a regular on another show.

As for Ilian, I'm indifferent, I'll have to wait and see until I judge whether I like him or not. But I definitely get why he wanted to blow up the ship, in his mind the Sky people and their technology are the reason why his family died. He has no reason to trust them and their solutions which involve technology.

Agreed ... however, Kenni did make a good point in the episode discussion thread that this is probably also true of the other Grounders since they were also chipped and presumably some were also forced to kill their loved ones and yet, they didn't clamour to destroy the technology around them. Illian destroyed both the Flame (or so he thought) and also the entire Arkadia.

Again, though ... this was a definite plot device to ensure that the Ark was destroyed and that Arkers/Grounders are finally forced to worked together so I can't really hold it against the character himself.

Fair point.

The rest are a bit TOO understanding, IMO. Or maybe they're angry but are too afraid to do anything about it.

I have to say, I'm definitely the opposite

... I usually don't see it from their POV too much, but it's not right as well. They're not perfect, but neither are Arkers. And both sides have done horrific things in the name of their people.

Hm, I don't think I'm on anyone's side really.
I do see both points of view.

I guess my likes and dislikes are totally subjective and depend on whether I like the character/actor

Same here, I have to agree with you. The thing is I really felt for Ilian, I felt his pain and understood why he hated the Arkers/tech so much. But I truly think that burning down the Ark was just unacceptable. He said he didn't want anyone to die, but how did he know for sure there weren't any other innocent people inside? He completely destroyed their home....as much I felt sorry for what happened to him I don't think I can truly like him completely after what he did (well at least that's how I feel at the moment) I'm still interested to his interaction with the others and his storyline.

All about perspective and how we feel inclined towards one group/ certain characters based on what we see.

I never understood why Murphy who did all these horrible things was so universally loved, yet others get hate for way less

At least everyone seems to unanimously hate Riley
