I was thinking, when I first saw their scene and hug, I was like "meh not amazing for Bellarke standards" and proceeded to blame the writers. But I keep forgetting they haven't seen eachother for six years and have only had weird interactions since they got back to earth - they need to kind of learn about eachother again. So it makes sense that it would seem a bit awkward.

That's totally my opinion though, and I could be making excuses for just not feeling the scene that much

No, I totally get what you're saying, Lisa. The hug and convo was nice and really sweet but not edge of my seat blow my mind like a lot of other bellarke scenes. And I think it's fair to say they need to get in tune again.



I remember how clunky the "head and the heart" conversation seemed to me. It also left me meh. Like it was nice, but not 100% in tune like they were before the 6 years.

Michelle, those too, yes. I just felt cheated after all the signs, hints and foreshadowing early in the season.

Oh I love your take on it because I was feeling the same way, like I don’t have the feels for their scenes now, like I did in previous seasons (which is so hard for me to admit, but it’s true) ... I probably last felt the most during their reunion scene in 5x04 which is a long time ago. But what you said makes sense too, they clearly need more time to reacquaint themselves and their rift last season prolonged that even more. I just hope that it’s smoother sailing in terms of their friendship/relationship this season.

I think part of it is just . . . being so beaten down in the fandom and having to question whether or not everything we get is just bait.

I also don’t think the purpose of that scene was the same as 5x04. The purpose was forgiveness and reaffirmation rather than, like, a sudden rush of intimacy like we had in 5x04.

Wish I could believe that something being off with their scenes was done on purpose by the writers to show how disconnected those 6 years made them....

Even though he was definitely talking about Octavia there, that gifset really shows that he has risked so much for Clarke, too. The 3x02 gifs . . . the 5x03 gifs . . . Iconic scenes. And a little of that forgotten about 4x01 moment thrown in there. I meant forgotten by the writers, not us.

Fair point. I can see how it was meant to feel different.

I think they’re in the process of working it out, and the last episode was a good step in that direction. Or, it was, until Clarke became a host. Poor Clarke.


ETA: I got the Scene of the Moment changed in the OP. I really want to pretty up those testimonials, still, but I'm not brave enough to tackle the coding of that section. It's just a big clump. I don't know how it got like that.
