That's what we love, Brit. It shows growth from when he killed Jessica in "The Descent" to tonights episode. It's not an easy battle. It's an every day struggle, and as much as it cuts me up to bits, I LOVE Damon's struggle. This kind of thing shouldn't EVER be easy. And I'm glad they don't shy away from Damon's darker, inner nature. It's one of the many things that's being explored on his long journey.

He's showing immense progress. Sometimes people don't give him the credit he deserves. He's had a tough life, and has been treated poorly by many people. Therefore, he shut off his emotions to prevent the possibility of further hurt in life..which is what caused him to act in cruel ways in the past, but he's not like that anymore. He's shown he does have a soul and he's learning to let his feelings regain control. I love his progress and his journey is so touching.

Yeah Damon is always considered the bad guy, and always feeling left out when he doesn't readily agree to anything. No wonder he has such anger. trust issues and frustration.
Yeah he kind of hurt Andi tonight but he stopped himself anf compelled her to leave. BIG progress there. I do hope this is the last time we see her though.
Just seeing the tears in Damon eyes at the end was very sad. Gosh can the guy catch a break? He is feeling scared, upset and powerless in not knowing really how to save Elena and hopefully keep her other loved ones safe too, though Elena is his main priority.
Damon probably thinks he is the only one really busting his butt constantly trying to come up with many solutions. Stefan is still relying on Bonnie and now Elena has recruited Elijah so Stefan "trusts" Elijah because of that. Damon is a lOT more cautious and skeptic of that plan.
Like Elijah said to Elena" I will beleive your word until you actually do what you said".
