Will might think letting her sing backup to Rachel and his favs after school was something Quinn should be thankful for, but how about actually calling in Quinn's parents and telling them to stop being monsters to their pregnant, terrified sixteen-year-old? How about contacting social services and informing them of the situation? You know, actually following the protocol put in place to protect kids from having to beg a bed in a friends house? Shelby was right, she needs to stop blaming herself for things she did when she was a child - but so does everyone else (especially Will). Because she was a child (played by a 25-year-old ).

I feel for Kurt, I really do, but Quinn was a zombie all of last season, and everyone who was supposed to react to that and actually help her (Will, Sue, her mother, her boyfriend, her school, her friends...) were too busy with their own drama. Seriously, Quinn storms into his office with all these accusations and all Will can do is throw another "I have curly hair, you do not understand suffering the way I dooooo" tantrums, and when she rejoins the gleeclub at the end it's all about him getting to smug it up in front of Sue. Nice. How about sending the obviously distraught student to the school councillor? Or how about reporting Sue to the principal for taking advantage of a student who is clearly not in her right mind at the moment?

Brittany was awesome, though.
I TOTALLY AGREE

Quinn isn't acting out for some frivolous reason like not getting a solo or because she's having problems with a boy. She got pregnant at 16 while she was in the Celibacy club, her cheerleading coach whom she helped to win championships DROPPED her, and to top it off her father kicked her out and her mother watched and let it happen. Will was so supportive of Quinn in season 1 and understanding of her issues, so I don't get how all of a sudden she's being treated like this.

ETA: Let's not forget all the plastic surgery she did at way too young of an age just to feel good about herself. I try to block it out because I wasn't a fan of that SL but it certainly contributes to Quinn's giant mess of a life Imagine, parents who would pay for you to alter your body for no reason but who would kick you out for being pregnant. I'm not surprised she feels empty inside.

First of all, Will's advice to a seriosuly depressed teen is to GROW UP ? what even.

I feel like for the first time in a lonnnggg time I was actually moved by Glee. If handled well, Quinn's storyline may turn out being the most gratifying for me. I'm not a big Shelby fan after what she did to rachel but I ADORED her scenes with Quinn. Shelby outshone Will in every way. i think the show displayed two different ways of dealing with troubled teens like Quinn. Shelby was firm, she didn't speak to Quinn like she was a child but at the same time she was able to say the right things to Quinn to HELP her. she understood what a complex, serious issue this is for Quinn. It's not like she's throwing a tantrum for not getting a new car. Her life's been extremely difficult. Giving up a child is life-changing and she's desperately looking for ways to cope. Will isn't nasty, he's just immature. One minute he's trying to mentor them, the next he's treating a challenge from them as a personal affront. Not once in that speech did he look worried or ask her why she was treating herself like this. He wants to intimidate her into behaving in a way he prefers. Him wielding his power over her like that was disturbing. And then he treats her returning to Glee club like a personal victory even when he did nothing to help her ? wth.

Shelby is a positive influence. She's made her own mistakes and isn't afraid to talk about them if it helps someone else. I want more of her. Less of Will please, thanks. If he's trying to "fix" Emma next week I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Kurt...sigh. I understand it's hard for him to deal with not being masculine enough for a few roles but we haven't looked at Tina being too asian for roles or Mercedes not being petite enough for a few roles. My point is they all deal with being outside of the mainstream. We've seen Kurt overcome things much greater than this, his understanding is much greater than this.

Quinn's got every reason to be pissed, not to mention depressed. Her family and the system failed her in every way imaginable, and no one seems to think it's a big deal because... she's pretty? I don't know. With that in mind, I really do hope she embraces Shelby's offer to be a family, rather than try to take Beth away from the only mother she's ever known.

On a related note: did Shelby just leave her phone with Quinn? How much is Sugar's dad paying her?

That SL was just disgusting and obvs. just made up in the last second..I mean if so, shouldn't Beth look more like Quinn pre-surgery

I don't see how Shelby is in any way a good teacher or a role model.

She used one of her own students to make contact with a daughter she was not supposed to contact, she made Jesse leave his own school to make her own bidding and come back whenever she pleased.
She got her reunion then she decided that she didn't want Rachel to consider her a mom or have any sort of relationship with her. She toyed with her emotions and tossed her aside when she felt like it.

And when she wanted a family she didn't consider mending her relationship with her own daughter, she got a brandy new one.

Her speeches in the episode were very moving but I cannot take her seriously, and I truly hope Quinn gets her daughter back.

I still don't understand why they didn't use this current storyline of Quinn dealing with losing Beth instead of going into the plastic surgery business. Oh wait, the episode was about being proud about who you are and we had to be reminded that Quinn is weak weak weak.

It's true. Shelby's been terrible. Why is why it's so ironic that she's the only adult who actually looked interested in helping Quinn. Makes you think ,sometimes help can come from people you least expect. It's not always the people portrayed as "the good guys" who are able or willing to help.

Well she is interested because she wants her to be involved with Beth. If Beth wasn't in the equation she wouldn't have even looked twice at her.

I agree that no adult was good to Quinn, including Shelby.

I really enjoyed his episode - not so much the songs butthe storylines

- my dislike for Quinn is cemented, really dont think Ill ever enjoy watching her on screen.
- puck was amazing and his scene with shelby was my fave !!!
- Shelby being back is so great!!! Love IM!!
- actually felt sorry for Kurt but I hope Blaine gets the lead role
- and I really do hope Rachel gets the lead role! I love Mercedes and all but do I think the writers will crush both Kurt and Rachel's dreams with those lead roles?! Actually... Maybe they will

Well, in Will's defense, she shouldn't come barging into his office like that, least of all with Sue and a camera crew. It was obvious they were cornering and trying to humiliate Will and the club. Quinn was in attack mode so Will fired back. I'm sure there will come a time when he is there for her in a gentle manner but Quinn wasn't completely innocent there.

I love Quinn in fandom, I'm just reminded every episode how much they let her down in canon. Quinn's not an idiot, she's going to know that she can't get her baby back because she signed the adoption papers. It's hard, definitely, but fixating on a child to ~fix everything makes her seem really selfish and childish and we've seen signs of so much more than that.

I really disagree. Since Quinn stormed into his office blaming him for everything, Will had EVERY right to give her a piece of his mind. IMO, Quinn needed Will's tough love just as much as she needed Shelby's gentle guidance. BOTH characters told her things that she needed to hear. Since Will has been dealing with her crud for over 2 years now, he wasn't the perfect person to be firm with her. JMO

He's a teacher. I'm pretty sure legally the school wouldn't want him exploding at students the way he tends to, and telling Quinn to grow up after he failed in his obligation to contact social services after she became homeless is kind of... well, I think Will is very much in love with the good sides of gleeclub, reliving the rush of his glory days and all that, but I think like many teacher's he's not at all prepared for the darker side of teen life. His temper's just not suited to teaching, at all, and his tantrums are inappropriate and bordeline scary.

Well, if she can establish that she was not in her right mind when she agreed to give Beth up (postpartum/postnatal depression or some such), then the adoption might be declared legally invalid? Quinn might succeed in getting some of her rights back, at least. But I think it'll end with Quinn realising Beth loves Shelby, and they'll all be one big happy family just in time for Shelby to die in a car crash for the sake of drama.
