Belated Christmas gift:

Little C was about 3 years old when something happened. He was in his playpen when he stopped breathing. Chuck was watching him and ran over to check on his son, who was turning blue. Chuck discovered that Little C had swallowed a piece of one of his toys; he called 9-1-1 and did as he was told. In a matter of moments, which to Chuck felt like years, the object was cleared and Little C was crying. Blair came in and rushed over to her family.

“Blair, we have to take him to the hospital, somehow he swallowed a piece of his toys, they told me to take him there to make sure that he is okay, I am sorry, so sorry.” He had tears coming down his face.

“Chuck, shh, let’s go, he will be fine, and you helped him.” She helped him and Little C and into the elevator. They went to the hospital where Little C was checked over and would be okay, just a sore throat for a few days, but they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. Both Blair and Chuck would spend the night with their son.

Chuck called up Nate who was busy at work to tell him the news.

“Is the little guy okay? You were a hero man.”

“He will be. They want him to stay the night. Could you go by the Empire and pick up a change of clothes for me, Blair, and Little C, please?”

“Sure, of course, can it wait until after work?”

“Yes, Nathaniel, we are not changing now into our bed attire and next day clothes.”

“Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind. I am thinking of proposing to Serena and I am trying to come up with the perfect way to ask her.”

“I am sure that no matter what way you purpose she will say yes.”

“I am glad that you are confident in that. I am a nervous wreck. I am going to Cartier’s tonight after I drop off your clothes.”

“Okay, we will see you when you get here, tell Serena about Little C.”

“I will, I will. I have a deadline, I will see you later.”

“Bye Archibald, have a good day.”

“Sure okay, bye Bass.”

Nate tried to work, but he was getting more and more distracted. His thoughts kept going back to Serena, his great love. They had been going strong for years now and he wanted her to be his wife. Now, how would he propose to her? He really didn’t have a clue.

Nate went to the Empire and retrieved the clothes and things that he knew that his friends would need. He practically ran to the hospital. He was getting more and more anxious about finding the right ring.

“Hey Nate.” Blair said with a smile.”How are things with you and Serena?”

Nate smiled back, well tried to, he was deep in thought. “Hey, things are good.”
He did not want to tell Blair for the fear of her telling Serena.

“Okay, glad to hear that.” At that moment the doctor came in with a concerned look on her face. “What’s wrong, what is wrong with my son?”

“Mrs. Bass, it seems that your son has leukemia.”

Blair sat down and didn’t say a word. It was Chuck who spoke up. “Is there anything that can be done?”

“Yes, it is in the early stage, so we have to find a bone marrow donor. We need you to get tested and anyone else that you know.”

Nate was snapped back into reality and volunteered to find out if he was a match.

They all got tested and called every one of their friends and relatives. Chuck dreaded making a call to Jack, but if he could help out his son, he would do anything for him even making a deal with the devil. Everyone was on pins and needled waiting for the news, to see if anyone was a match.
