4th of July, 2000:

Ryan attends the party with Greenlee but can't stop thinking of Gillian. He gets distracted thinking of Gillian, and pours suntan oil all over Greenlee.

Then Ryan and Gillian sneak away and later have their own "From Here to Eternity" moment on the beach.

I LOVED those 4th of July scenes. Especially when Greenlee went face first into the sand :lmao:

So All My Children ended up trending nationally last night. Someone made a post asking which soap they would be watching in 1993, and it got everyone talking about AMC. I was scrolling through the tweets, and I found this one below that I loved!

I'm surprised it was trending, but the 90's was the best time to watch AMC (Especially for Noah/Julia, but Ryan/Gillian was another great thing to come out of 90's AMC lol) Gillian did deserve better, that was the most ridiculous and brutal way to kill a soap character. Like damn, what did she do to y'all?

I love how many likes the tweet got! Everyone knows what they did to Gillian was extreme and uncalled for.

How would have had her character killed off?

I wouldn't of killed her off, but they could of at least given her an open ended "death." Like she could of got into a fight with that hitwoman and they could of both fallen off a cliff, and Gillian is missing but assumed dead. Or having her get in a plane crash but she goes off a cliff like Maria did. They could of done something not as drastic as turning Gillian into sushi. I think Gillian's death was the biggest OTT middle finger I've ever seen a soap do to a character.

Sushi? I thought she was shot & that was how Gillian died.

Yeah, she was shot in the head, declared brain dead, then they took her heart out and put it in Laura. So it was like they chopped her up into little sushi rolls to me, but my point was it was extreme as hell.

Yeah, they could of given Gillian a more ambiguous death like when Maria "died" on the plane crash or when Leo was presumed dead after going missing in the river...

I think sushi is the perfect way to describe what they turned Gillian into. It makes me sick to my stomach to this day. She was a popular character who deserved better.

I like the idea of the assassin pushing Gillian off a cliff or something like that. Anything that could've given her the opportunity to comeback one day. Instead we got a decade of Ryan stuck in the worst triangle with Kendall and Greenlee.

Yeah, what a downgrade. The lesser of two evils would of been Ryan with Kendall to me, cause at least she doesn't have such a horrid history with Gillian like Greenlee did. For Ryan to even entertain getting with Greenlee after everything she did to Gillian is like spitting in her face SMH.

Greenlee lied to Gillian about Ryan saying he loved her, IIRC which partly led to Gillian marrying Jake. She tried to keep them apart because she wanted Ryan for herself.

Although I think Gillian would also have issue with Kendall because of her lying about her cousin Dimitri raping her, which led to Dimitri getting stabbed by Erica. I wonder if she ever heard about that one.

Yikes. I missed that.

Oh yeah, sometimes I forget Dimitri and Gillian are related lol. She should have a problem with that, but at least Kendall didn't do anything to Gillian directly like Greenlee did. I do wish Gillian and Kendall got to meet, but they would probably end up being enemies too.
