The goat thing *did* confuse me a little... I think it would have been better to just tell the goat story and be done with it.

I understand what they were trying to do with it, I think it just didn't come of quite as clearly as they would have liked!

I suspect that they realised that with the strike cutting things short, they didn't have time to tell the Goat story, and as they'd already said it was on his 30th, they had to make a mention of it.

I just think that now, they'll have to mention it next year and it won't live up to all this hype. Before, it was just a cool callback to season one. Now it's got all this expectation around it!

well, maybe it'll become like the Pinapple incident, without us actually knowing what happened?

Maybe ... but with the Pineapple Incident Ted doesn't know what happened, he doesn't remember! Whereas with the Goat he said "More on that later" so if we don't actually hear more on it later, it'd be a bit of a letdown!

I'm sure they'll think of something, the show rarely disappoints. The really important thing is that we actually *get* s4!

I agree, there are double standards. I'm not saying it's right, but I think it's very realistic for Ted to be more angry with Barney because he violated a sacred trust and betrayed a friendship when he slept with Robin. While Robin is a person Ted will always have a soft spot for, he'll always be more tolerant towards her than others and he'll never show her how much it bothers him that she's been with his friend.

I don't know how else to explain it. I've been in a similar situation in real life and I can completely understand where Ted's coming from.

I felt bad for Barney and Ted in this episode, not so much Robin, because she was the one who originally wanted to keep it a secret but it didn't matter because Ted didn't get mad at her so But the look on Barney's face at the end

I loved the "high five" that Barney and Robin do in the beginning and when Lily is asking all those questions about Robin and Barney like: did he tie her up or did he use devices

Personally, I'd assumed a) when I watched it, but there are a lot of people thinking b)! Which to me doesn't seem like it could work, but people seem more evenly split down the middle than I expected!
I'm going with a) also.
I and also think that the strike messed up what they wanted to do, in terms of time... I think they really wanted to do the Robin/Barney thing leading to the Ted/Barney fallout. And they had to fit the goat in there too... too much good stuff for the episodes left this season!

They were probably scratching their heads, wondering what they could do when one said "Hey, why not pretend Ted's confused and say the goat was there on his 31st birthday! That gives us another year to find a good way to integrate it!"

Yeah, it was totally unexpected! Well, we'll see what happens in the next episode. If the goat's still there, it will mean that he only mixed up the ending, not the entire story.

Yep, I think that's exactly what happened! Glad to know there are other people on my wavelength!

I think he's mixed up ONLY the goat thing and that everything else was accurate... But we'll see... in a few days!

I doubt they'll mention the goat again... They'll probably leave it for Ted's b-day next season. You never know with these peeps though.

I think having an evil goat in a small apartment for a whole year would get old fast, and also, hard to keep funny.

Plus, I doubt the birthday story would stick out in Ted's head as hilarious if there was a whole year of goat stories to tell!
