I've been a consistent/faithful viewer since Season 7.

Before that, I only watched Seasons 2 & 3. I didn't watch Carrie's season (Season 4) because I was so mad about the outcome from Season 3 that I refused to watch it the next season, which was Carrie's season, and I didn't know anything about her until I heard, "Jesus, Take the Wheel". And the rest is history.

I started watching again during Season 7 when I came across my roommate at the time watching it and just happened to see David Cook's audition, and then I was hooked after that.

I couldn't even tell you what seasons of the US version have aired here. Never watched the Australian version, but it only lasted about 7 years I think. Supposedly it is coming back though but still probably won't watch it. (Waiting to see who the judges are, as my Delta Goodrem is tipped as being one of them & for her I'd watch)

I am the opposite Jessica, the only season I watched on at least a somewhat regular basis was Carrie's season

She is Kelly Clarkson still

All she has changed is her legal name, not her professional name. Just like legally she was Kelly Blackstock while she was married, but still Kelly Clarkson professionally. Now after her divorce instead of going back to Clarkson she's decided to drop her last name completely & use her middle name as it.

Because it doesn't fit who she is & wants to be now. She hasn't actually been open about it, but there is speculation that it also has to do with how Clarkson comes from her father & well that was another crappy man in her life...
