I wouldn't mess with Carrie and her bat.

Are you talking about a specific book? I can't remember a book cover with a horse.
Yes! I read it in the 5th grade and there was a girl with a horse.

And that is all I can remember about it.

No. I wasn't a girl pretending to be a boy.

She was wearing pink gingham shirt. And the horse wasn't a racing horse.

Misty Of Chincoteague or Sea Star or Stormy- Marguerite Henry wrote a lot of horse themed books for young readers.

No...I took a look on Goodreads. It's not those books. But thank you for the help.

Wow, what a topic!

I couldn't think of anything else and know I have quick access on goodreads to books I couldn't stand.

Caraval is an easy ready, so I can see you getting through it. It's just not quality.
Farm Boy is juvenile
Eva Sleeps is all telling, not showing

I knew Old Man And The Sea would be on that list.

I'm catching up from last week with childhood book memories.
I went upstairs, and gathered my worn & battered Little Golden Book stories that were
my favorites, and left the house with me when I got married.

1. The Animal Fair- all about a fair for animals, with rides and a parade
2. Captain Kitty - a crew of cats go on a ship & dive for pearls, and visit islands
3. Five Beds For Bitsy - a puppy keeps outgrowing it's beds
4. Once Upon A Time- a well told story of the frog prince
5. Peter Rabbit ( an original Rand McNally Book Elf Juniors book)
6. Mr. Pine's Mixed Up Signs- The sign maker looses his glasses, and puts up new
signs in town in all the wrong places. (Book price says 35 cents.)
7. Pierre Bear- A mountain bear lives off the land & marries the shop lady
8. The House That Jack Built - catchy classic rhyme

It's soooooooooo bad. Why does anyone want to read 30 pages about catching a fish?

I wish all books were ยข35
Also, the town needs an eyeglass store so he can get a new pair

No. All the characters were bears. He played the guitar and wooed her.

Mr. Pine found his glasses in the dog house on his dog.
