Stephen King: The Master of Horror
I liked this thread before it got lost.
I've read pretty much every one of his books, except some of the newer ones, and loved most of them, especially the older ones. IT, Christine, Pet Sematary, The Shining, and The Eyes Of The Dragon were some of my favorites. IT scared me tremendously when I first read it, I was around 10, and scared to walk over sewer grates for months. What was your favorite and least favorite books, and why? __________________

I'm half way through The Shinning now. It's the only book I've read of his so far and I gotta say I'm impressed.
I remember reading a chapter of one of his other books and not finding it scary, but The Shinning I like. Disturbing. __________________

My Favorit book by Stephen is The Eyes of the Dragon. What I liked about the book was that it was different from the other books of his that I had read. I mostly had read his horror books before The Eyes of the Dragon. I really don't have a least favorit yet.

Well, I did read a lot of books by the genius Mr. King - but it is really tough to say which is my favorite because every book is different.
In the context of horror "She" would probably be my first choice. I still get worked up while reading... But my all time favorite might just be "The green mile". I know that's not exactly in the horror category but it's his best work, IMO. __________________

Wow, picking a favourite is really hard when it comes to King - can I have three? I loved The Stand, The Talisman and the Dark Tower series. I've been a King fan since I was 12 (but I won't say for how long, suffice to say quite a loooooong time ) and have enjoyed most of his books. My least favourite was "The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon" - ugh, complete crap IMO.

I love Stephen King and have read all of his books, except the newest Dark Tower book. I actually started collecting his books about 10 years ago, and have them all except for 3 books: It, Cycle of the Werewolf, and The Dark Tower VII. I would recommend any of his books to anyone, except maybe Dreamcatchers , which I didn't think was one of his best works.

I liked the story "The Langoliers" it was creepy, and so was the movie as well. The story was so descriptive. You could feel the horror surrounding them.

I'd have to agree about The Langoliers *shudder* Very cree-py! I think I get creeped out by more of his short stories and novellas than books.

IT.........hands down, parts of it were long and a little tedious (the book is over 1,000 pages long!) but it has made it so I will never walk over a storm drain ever again, and if I do, I certainly don't look down!

IMO, if you read The Stand, make sure you get the unabridged version. Also, I would recommend Misery.
Although you are asking for novels, I highly recommend his short story collections. |
