I just hate Thom Hale.



I never really noticed before, but that is a good point. The author does have an obsession with the clothing and locales.

Since it's getting towards the end of the month and this isn't really a spoiler for the end of the book, I'm going to not use spoiler tags

I guess I don't understand why she waited until the day she was to be married to skip town. It's like she just wanted the validation of knowing for sure a guy would marry her or something

That's my issue too. I'm not bothered that she left him - that's her right. But why wait until after they were married? Does she not realize that everyone in that town knows he was married to her, and now he'll probably never get to have a real wife (because of bigamy)?

I really don't like her character, the only positive I can say for her is she got along well with some characters

but if I ignore her presence, the rest of the book wasn't so bad. So yeah hoping she's the one that dies!

I just finished the book. I didn't like Cordelia either. It was really bitchy of her to leave her husband like that.

I really hate the fact that she never even thought about her husband. I was expecting for him to come looking for her. Oh well he's better off without her.

I wouldn't say I hate the character (her storyline was my favorite) but I definitely have serious issues with some of her decisions.

I think she's the one who'll die.

I had been hesitant to say that I hated her, it is pretty early on being only the first book, but once I remember all the crap she pulled and just how infuriating nearly every action of her's was (and how badly I want her to be the one who dies!)--it just seems like saying it is the last step and should just get it over with

Maybe Letty and John will get together?

I haven't finished the book (almost done though!) and I really don't like Cordelia either but my main reason is because she showed Thom the secret passageway To me that was just something she shouldn't have shown anyone, let alone a man she knows is an enemy of the family. I just couldn't believe that she'd just found her father, made the promise to Charlie she'd keep the secret, and then turn her back on all that.

I'm really liking Letty's storyline right now - I'm currently at the part where she goes out with Amory. I can't wait to finish!

YES! I couldn't agree more! I wanted to strangle her. Talk about perpetuating the stereotype that women are easily manipulated... I thought she was going to be a stronger character than that. The minute she showed him that I just knew something bad was going to happen.
