I've still never read The Giver. I think I tried it when I was a lot younger, like, 8 or 9 and couldn't get into it and I just haven't tried it again. I need to though, because it looks a lot more appealing to me now than it did when I was younger.

I haven't read it either.

I read the Wizard of Oz earlier this year and was really surprised at just how much it differed from the book. And I never thought I'd say this, but I like the movie a lot more than I do the book.
And I guess there's an animated version of it coming out I think next year tha thas Lea Michele voicing the part of Dorothy. I'm not huge into animation stuff, but I think I'll be interested to see it.

I haven't read that either. It's a goal of mine, though. I think it's just going to have to be read a little down the road. I have a few other things to focus on for the next little bit, and already 50+ books on my "to read" list So I'll have to put that one a little further down.

Okay so I was checking the movie news on my phone and there was a list for movies scheduled to come out in Nov/Dec and this one synopsis caught my eye. It's for a film called '127 Hours'. It stars James Franco and Amber Tamblyn and it's based off the book "Between a Rock & A Hard Place" by Aaron Ralston.

I found the trailer online and I can say it's certainly a movie I'm looking forward to. I love nature based books/films or human survival stories. I read the book several years ago and it was heartbreaking and sometimes even difficult to get through because of what Aaron went through. When I saw the trailer it brought tears to my eyes.

Definately one worth watching that's for sure. I even called my dad to tell him about it. After I had finished reading the book I loaned it to my dad since he was interested since I talked about it so highly. Well I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw the trailer so I called and he was just as excited about it. Definately one we'll be seeing that's for sure.

Here is the trailer in case any of you all are interested.

Thanks for the info! I haven't read that book, maybe I should check it out.

The latest book turning into a movie that I know of is Erik Larson's The Devil in the White City.

I really liked The Giver when I had read it for school (and I rarely liked the required readings), which would've been back in grade 7 so 10/11 years ago. Can't really remember much now, though, just pills and recycling food or something
