Classic Comics Sunday
--- Those ’70s Comics: 596 Inspired by episode 505 - “Ramble On” --- Comments: Fez used the word whore often indiscriminately, calling Hyde’s girlfriend Jill in “The Third Wheel” (4x11) a whore for not having sex with Hyde after a week of dating, calling Jackie a little whore (in her absence) in the school because he’s riled up, etc. In the latter case, he takes back the insult quickly, but the term is quick to leave his tongue. Season-5 Fez grew out of the Fez who followed Casey Kelso’s advice in “Everybody Loves Case” (4x26), although the foundation was already there in the earlier seasons. For instance, he was written with a sense of entitlement toward Jackie(’s romantic and sexual affection) during the early seasons. As I wrote season-5 Fez, whose pet name – in the comics – for the woman he’s enamored with is hard-hearted whore, I grew leery of having to write canonical season-6 Fez, who is even worse. Fez had so much potential as a complex, evolving, insightful, compassionate character, so I decided to explore that potential and turn him around. His relationship with Laurie let me do that. Laurie is ****-shamed throughout the TV series, and through learning about the pain that degradation causes her, Fez excised the words whore, ****, and other misogynistic terms from his vocabulary. In the comics’ version of season 6, he develops a strong respect for women and their boundaries. He’s still a bit of an over-sharer, though, and his friends learn way too much about his sex life with Laurie. He and Laurie also like to fool around in other people’s closets, but that’s not to have people spy on them – or to spy on other people – it’s because they’re constantly horny and will do it with each other wherever they can, whenever it’s convenient (for them). Fez and Laurie’s relationship became one of my favorites to write. The comics’ version of season-6 Fez grows a lot as an individual, too. He learns how to treat people properly and teaches others (especially Red) how to treat him with respect. I’m happy I chose to stop following the show’s trajectory for his character. __________________

--- Those ’70s Comics: 597 Inspired by episode 505 - “Ramble On” --- Comments: Hyde’s vision of Eric changing into Bob to please Donna is disturbing -- and has certain implications -- so I have fun with Fez teasing Eric about it. --- Vector ‘Style’ Brushes from melsbrushes.co.uk --- Kayla, thank you! __________________

--- Those ’70s Comics: 598 Inspired by episode 505 – “Ramble On” --- Comments: Eric’s commentary reflects / represents the criticism Donna’s character got from a measure of people in the T7S fandom at the time I wrote today’s comic. My favorite part, though, is that Donna’s rage is sparked only once Eric says she has bad taste. __________________
