What did they do, actually? In the scene when he told her she was amazing and asked what he could do for her, she just wanted him to hold her. She seemed sad, but I don't remember why.

Val is a complex character - there is vulnerability in her and you can understand why she was so messed up after the abuse she had when she was young. She does need loving and attention which is probably why Dylan held her.
Personally, Dylan and Valerie are dynamic and superb together __________________
