Yeah. I thought S6 thing was also unnecessary. To break them up so Val could get into a triangle with Kelly and Colin? meh.

I kinda liked Colin and Valerie when it happened, but they ruined that by having Colin go after Kelly again when he was on the run

The Season 8 break-up was definitely the worst. It just came out of nowhere and it felt like the writers were rushing everything back to David/Donna instead of earning it. He and Valerie had grown so much together that I was so disappointed.

I always felt like they were rushing for D/D without actually earning it. At the expense of Val/David.

Agreed. And this is coming from someone who shipped both couples. I just didn't ship them at the same time. I liked DD in high school (and some of S4) and I liked DV from that point onwards.

I get that. I never liked D/D, but I guess they made sense in high school. Never afterwards. Not even in S4.

David was being moody with Donna ever since their living arrangements were being hidden from Mrs Martin. You could tell he was already zoning out of the relationship.

David and Valerie were at their most content when they were a couple. That's why I hated that stupid plotline in Season 7 when David is gambling and they make his connection with Val look toxic. He ends up calling Donna, which I felt retconned how he usually turned to Val in those situations.

Right. And I actually don't blame him for wanting a sexual relationship or being pissed about hiding of living arrangements and failed promises of sex, but he should have ended things way before, in a better manner.

Totally agree. David should be in a relationship that he feels happy in, but he led Donna on for so much of the season even though he'd already made up his mind that he wanted a sexual relationship with apparently anyone who wanted one with him.

I liked that connection he had with the blind piano player. What a shame that the writers didn't have the guts to follow through on that

Donna and D'Shawn were ADORABLE in Season 5, episode 2! Even though Felice was incredibly prejudiced about him.

We all know Felice was the biggest hypocrite in the show at that point. Who on earth would cheat on the amazing Dr Martin?

Worst thing about David dating Donna was knowing that her mother never really respected him. In fact, she put him down several times, and only spoke highly of him when Ray came into the picture.

With Valerie, he didn't need to worry about impressing parents; he could just focus on Valerie's happiness.

I think the only time I understand her POV was when Donna got drunk at Prom.

Also, I remember Val's mother being ignorant + cruel at least at the beginning... Then Kelly's dad did her dirty
