Yes, the book is kinda different from the movie, but I love the movie because of Arnie, the book is more about Gilbert.. and there are even another sister and another brother of them

In themovie they show the pictures of another brother on the fridge, but in the booka there is even another sister that came back in town a few days/weeks before Arnie's birthday.. and the brother came back the day before Arnie's birthday, but only because he thought he was then his birthday.. so they were all there for her mother death..
