McConaughey to Write 'Sahara' Tour Blog
Mon, Feb 21, 2005, 01:02 PM PT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Matthew McConaughey, who acted as the Grand Marshal and pace car driver for the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 20, is on the road again. The 35-year-old actor kicked off a six-week tour for his upcoming action-adventure film "Sahara" at Daytona, after which he's making numerous stops hitting big cities, small towns and military bases. McConaughey is riding around in a his personal Airstream trailer painted with art from the film on his cross-country tour so he can spread the word to fans and chronicle his adventures on a blog at mtv.com/movies. "I love getting on the road and meeting new people in new places," says McConaughey. "I've always kept diaries on my road trips; now, I'm going to share the experience. There should be some cool, interesting, and unexpected stories to tell." "Sahara" centers on explorer Dirk Pitt (McConaughey), who is charged with discovering the source of pollution that is forcing thousands of North Africans into madness, cannibalism, and death. His investigation launches him on an adventure through a scorching desert, where he uncovers two of history's unsolved mysteries. "Sahara," co-starring Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn, opens nationwide on April 8. __________________
