I agree girls, there is just no going back for him now. He might realize what he's doing/did is wrong, might give it all up, might choose the good side to fight on, but he can't go back to being 'Sammy'

But I have to say this episode this week, just brought some memories back from the old days, where Dean and Sam fought against the evil TOGETHER!!
I know, it was just a fake reality, but it was so great to see them together again!

One can only hope and I think you're right, Sam can never be the "old" Sammy again, but old Sammy wasn't perfect either, so maybe he can't be old Sammy, but a new kind of Sammy, a older version, still not perfct, but not this brainless idiot either....

Yeah, well, nobody´s perfect. But as Anita and Faith, I really hope that this taught Sam a lesson and that he´ll remember what it was like to fight with Dean side by side and not against his older brother.

even jared said that he doesn't think the relationship can ever go back to the way it was KRIPKE WHY?!?!?! i miss my boys fighting with each other! not against each other! that's why 4x17 was so awesome! it brought me back to season 1!

YES! That's part of why I enjoyed the episode so much, seeing Dean and Sam fight together again and be such a kickass team just tugged on my heart and made me so nostalgic for the good ol' days! And I love how Dean called Sam 'Sammy', and he was like "don't call me that" because it's just reminiscent of how he used to say that back in S1. Guh, I miss old them so much!
