Something else I love about Owl City is how unique his song titles are. Who else is going to write a song with the title The Tip of the Iceberg?

Yeah. Or The Bird and The Worm, and Dental Care? At first I was a little iffy before buying their album (I only knew Vanilla Twilight, Hello Seattle, and Fireflies), and I had to read the lyrics first to make sure that I actually might like it.

I love Owl City! I'm not sure which ones are my favourites yet, because I really like all of his music, but a couple that have stood out to me are "Tidal Wave" and "Rainbow Veins" and "Fireflies." He has such great lyrics and it always works with the music. That's something I really appreciate.

I first heard of Owl City on the music sub-forum on another site, LOL. I know pretty much all the active members there and since for the most part it was unanimously agreed on that he was awesome I decided to check him out. And I'm so glad I did, he has amazing music!

I think I first started to really like him when I woke up one morning for class and my roommate turned on VH1. They were showing the "Fireflies" music video and I titled my head trying to figure out where I heard it before I realized, "OH, that's OWL CITY! OMG! "

And so I started listening to him more. That's my story!

That's actually really funny, because my story is kinda similar.

One of my friends sent me a link to the YouTube video of "Hello Seattle" becuase I'm from there, and I guess they thought it was funny. I thought the song was pretty catchy, and I liked it...but didn't really listen to anything else from them. And then about a month later, my sister wanted me to listen to the "Fireflies" song, and I saw that it was the same guy! Of course, I loved the song and had to hear more, and that's when I heard "Vanilla Twilight", and just absolutely fell in love. The rest is history. I'm a sold fan for life.

That's awesome! I have a feeling a lot of his fans have come through word-of-mouth (or fingers, in this case) like that. He's the kind of artist you want to share with your friends because he's just that good.

And his lyrics... gah, lyrics always sell me in musicians. If they have good lyrics in combination with good music I'm, well... as you said, "a sold fan for life."

And I agree, Carrie. (Can I call you that?) Muscality is great and all that (which got me into Fireflies), but lyrics really do mean a lot to me. I guess that's why Vanilla Twilight stuck with me so hard. It helps that you can relate to them, too.
