Indiewire did a "Ranking Every Best Picture Oscar Nominee Of The 21st Century" and they ranked Midnight In Paris #94:
Quote:
94. “Midnight In Paris” (2011)
The 2000s had felt like a particularly drab time for Woody Allen fans, with his output ranging from the bad (“Match Point”) to the extremely bad (all the other films). So that “Midnight In Paris” was unquestionably his best film in many years isn’t necessarily a wholehearted recommendation. It certainly has a lot more to recommend it than most — Owen Wilson as one of the best Allen surrogates, Corey Stoll stealing the whole film as Hemingway, the lovely Parisian locations — even if the whole ends up feeling rather slight and inconsequential.

Woody Allen mentioned "Midnight in Paris" during his Facebook live interview:

Quote:
On “Annie Hall” being overrated:

For some reason, that film is very likable. I’ve made better films than that. “Match Point” is a better film. “The Purple Rose of Cairo” is a better film. “Midnight in Paris” is a better film. “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” is as good. For some reason [“Annie Hall”] has some charismatic inexplicable hold on people. That, and “Manhattan.” All over the world “Manhattan” plays all the time… Through sheer surprise to me, ones that I think are perfectly delightful nobody is interested in, and another one that I think is fine, they’re ultra interested in.

That's funny. I actually prefer Midnight in Paris to Annie Hall. The scenery shots alone are just so beautiful.
