The Playlist has done a round-up of the Best Picture hopefuls for the Academy Awards. Midnight in Paris is currently at number five in their prediction list:

5. “Midnight In Paris” (=)
We’d wondered if this might fall off over time, but with competition dropping like flies, our gut says this will hold on til the new year. Not a chance in hell of winning, however.
After this month's film festivals, most of the possible award contenders have now been screened. There are still a few yet to be reviewed - War Horse, My Week with Marilyn, The Iron Lady etc - so fingers crossed MIP can last the distance!

I agree, I hope it does last until the actual award season. Let's hope Sony Classics will try to keep the attention around the movie by starting a campaign.

It would be incredible if it ended up getting nominated :)

I finally saw it, and I loved it. Rachel was great as Inez and I have to say I love Owen Wilson for this part - I general don't like his movies that much. I would also like to mention Michael Sheen who played Paul brilliantly.

It's not going to be my favorite Rachel movie, but I really enjoyed it. I thought sometimes the pace of the movie was a bit too slow but I think Rachel played Inez perfectly. She did her job; not to be liked by the audience and she looked stunning. Loved her clothing in the movie :)

Yay, Lindsey, you finally saw it. I agree, Rachel did a good job with Inez - playing something who's not likeable. The cinematography was stunning in the film!

winterbird 09-20-2011 07:03 AM

Agreed! Makes me want to go back to Paris again. Love the Paris at night shots :)

I loved the opening scene of Gil/Inez on the bridge. So beautiful!

winterbird 09-21-2011 03:10 PM

Yes I agree :) Looked magical!

I think the standout scene for Inez was the scene where her family goes back unexpectedly to the hotel and she can't find her earrings.

winterbird 09-23-2011 12:51 AM

Yes I agree :) And I know I said this before, but I loved the styling of Inez/Rachel - I want her clothes

I really wanted her handbag.
