TGP - S01E01: 'Pilot' & S01E02: 'Flying' - Monday, September 23
TGP - S01E01: 'Pilot' & S01E02: 'Flying' - Monday, September 23 S01E01: Pilot. A woman named Elanor Shellshrop wakes up in a afterlife utopia called "The Good Place," where she is given a introduction from its facilitator Michael. It turns out she was chosen based a series of percentages via doing good deeds, as she was a lawyer who helped get people off death row. Eleanor is also given a soulmate, Chidi, an ethics professor from Senegal. Unfortunately for Eleanor, she suddenly comes clean to Chidi that she isn't the "Eleanor Shellshrop" (she was a fraudulent saleswoman who was foul-mouthed and uncaring towards others) and tells this to Chidi in order to keep her secret. She is then invited to meet her next door neighbor Tahani and her silent soulmate at a gathering, which is making Eleanor jealous of her. As the day ends, chaos ensues when Eleanor's "problems" terrorize the place, and Chidi blames Eleanor. S01E02: Flying. A day after the chaos caused by Eleanor, but everyone can't figure it out, Michael begins to suspect he is to blame and with the help of Tahani, organize a clean up day, which takes place around the same time as the daily flying event. For Eleanor, she enlists Chidi into becoming a good person, and Chidi puts her to the test by volunteering to clean up, only to make it worse by allowing the trash she hid to cause a trash storm. Eleanor later makes things right by cleaning up the place by herself. Finally, it appears that someone left a letter for Eleanor that they know the truth about her, warning that she doesn't belong here. In Eleanor's true past, a ladies night out has her friends feeling uncomfortable around her and her constant drinking. oh my gosh guys. i had the giggles the whole way through.
and this whole non swearing thing is never going to get old.  "mother forker" that scene when she met tahani in the pilot. "You Booped me"  im a little bit in love with this show. ps. i love that list of the good things and bad things that earned and deducted points. What is not to
about this show? I  the whole time! Loved the whole thing but I think my fave was the whole place going wacky-that was a trip! I Janet! Also love the cussing thing-that is just so every single time!And the end of ep 2 when she gets that note... Great stuff! Hope they can keep up with the great writing! Great cast! Kristen should get an Emmy nod next year. She's phenominal!!! |

I loved this show, it was just fun! And I love how Eleanor Shellshrop is viewed as such a bad person.
So, right now she has to do everything right to not be sent to the bad place. lolChidi is trying to help her through the process as well. lol Hopefully it's an successful mission. Overall, it was a fun two episode! |

aaand i was going to say i love how everyone is seemingly perfect, but they're really not, in their own ways, or that's what it looks like anyway. i don't know if it has anything to do with tahani or jianyu, but she definitely seems to be struggling with something herself, like her subtle but obvious frustration with jianyu's unwillingness to break his vow of silence in the good place and how she puts on a happy face in spite of it. so i hope i'm not just reading too much between the lines! because it'd be an even better show than it seems like if the other characters aside from michael and eleanor faced difficulties of their own OH, i also have a hunch that the note eleanor receives at the end of the second episode is actually from herself because she knows she doesn't belong and maybe it's really her subconscious reminding her of that detail, if in fact, the chaos that happens is because she's the glitch in the system Last edited by inalandslide; 09-21-2016 at 03:07 PM |

i think tahani's interesting in that her character does make you think/question that doing good things doesn't necessarily mean you're a good person.. just like eleanor is going to try to do good things but will it actually help her become a better person

ooooo thats an interesting thought re. her sending the note to herself. i like that.
and yeah, im wondering if there is the possibility that someone is pretending to be good... to cover the fact that they are actually the devil that has infiltrated the neighborhood... or else maybe even some sort of 'angel' character that has been sent to test Michael and his design? i dunno... spitballing here. but considering Schur... i wouldnt be surprised to find out that there is some interesting twist going down.__________________
