^ I totally agree. Katy does strike me as the kind of person who appreciates the thought and sentimental value of a gift, as opposed to the monetary value of it. There is nothing Katy would have loved more than a gift that showed her that Maya had put a lot of thought in it.

^ It did. Maya learning the truth about her father made her see Katy in a new light. That must have brought them closer together.

^ Yes, indeed. I'm sure Maya thought back on some of those 'bad' moments/feelings that Maya had with Katy, and she realized that they weren't bad moments/feelings at all.

^ Exactly. I'm glad we got to see Maya and Katy's relationship grow and change throughout the three seasons of the show we got. It was great to see that their relationship wasn't so fractured that they couldn't find a way to heal and become closer again.

It was, there was some resentment between them before that, but they got to grow a lot closer

^ Yeah. I really appreciate that. I didn't want Maya to have the same kind of relationship that Shawn had with his own parents. I hoped that Maya would have a better relationship, and eventually we got that.

^ I think part of that was due to the show being on Disney. TPTB probably thought that viewers wouldn't want to see a strained parent-child relationship that lasted for very long, so they slowly healed Katy and Maya's relationship until they were closer.

Yeah, I do think that's a shame in a way, & I think it might have been more interesting if the writers had taken more time with their complicated relationship, but I guess they had to wrap things up nicely
