Have you heard about the Shadow Reader series by Sandy Williams? I just finished the second book and I really liked it despite the horrible cliffhanger. In a way it reminds me of the Fever series, so I thought I'd suggest it to you.

Both. I wasn't too happy with the turn of events and it was cruel to end the book like that.
