Craig will always be a favorite of mine even though I'm not a fan of him in later seasons.

For the new male characters I like KC and Riley the most.

This is such an old post that I need to update on how my opinions have changed over the years....

Well my favorites out of the old characters would have to be Spinner (he's just awesome), Jay (hes freaking hilarious and always made every episode better) and Sean (for being the original bad boy with a heart of gold). But also Craig just for the amazing story lines they have given him. I just love the whole tragic life thing about him. I also always had a soft spot for JT.

Out of the newer characters.... Riley is my favorite. I love that they did his storyline in a more unique and not in such a stereotypical way. I enjoy Johnny's screen time and I am glad he is there. KC isn't bad. I like seeing his home life, but he needs some work. Declan is okay, but also needs development too.

From the old cast Spinner & Jay for sure. Sean used to be my fav, but over time my love for him died away...

But my heart has really been stolen by the new cast and KC is probably my fourth favorite over all now. He might have been my third favorite if he wasn't such a jerk in HLM part 1. I still can't help but love him though.
Riley & Declan are also complete love.

Sigh...these threads are making me want to watch seasons 1-4 which is when I felt everyone was at their prime. Jay and Sean used to be faves although NGL there's this part of me that's pissed that Jay broke up the Craig/Sean friendship. It's too bad that the boys basically just became love interests/boyfriends/crushes in later seasons. I hope that doesn't continue to happen with the new male characters.

I completely agree with you. Not sure if live in the US, but down here we have this sucky supposedly "new and improved" channel called Teen Nick. They show nothing prior to season four and that's just ridiculous. The old characters shaped the show and paved the way for the new ones.

I was also kind of sad about Jay coming between Sean and Craig. Before we ever saw Jay, Craig and Sean were getting pretty close. After Sean turned into a thug and started acting out, it was like he and Craig had never really been friends. The whole thing just kind of dissipated.

That's completely true about the guys becoming nothing but boyfriends and such. For instance, I love Johnny's character, but outside of his relationship with Alli (and his pointless love of fighting) what has he done? Nothing really. What happened to letting every character get his/her own plotlines? When since did guys not have their own voices or the ability to be themselves?

I'm glad Spinner's still around though. I hope to see Shane in the final season.

I agree with you guys! It's a bit ridiculous how much the boys have been pushed aside in the later seasons. I have to say I love that S9 started changing that. I mean all 3 two parters so far this season have gone to the guys (JCGE - Peter, Beat It - Riley, HLM - KC). And out of the new kids, it's the two boys (Declan & Dave) getting the most screentime. But season 8 was completely unbalanced as far as girls getting more plots as were most the seasons before that. So I really hope this new gender balanced shift continues.

As in fave characters I love Jay and Spinner. The others are a bit overrated in my opinion.
