I did buy one yesterday.

It's going to be a quiet New Year. No parties allowed!

I hope to get out for a walk this afternoon. The schools in this area will all be shut next week, as announced yesterday, so the kids will need to be made to go out and get some fresh air and exercise!

The neighbors shot off fireworks at midnight, so it woke me up, but we were back to sleep soon.

Back in a national lockdown, and my daughter might not get to take her exams.

Yeah, its like starting back to square one from last year!

In BC, our numbers are still ok enough to have schools open so I'm back to work.

Our schools are open even though it's pretty bad. Thankfully, I'm doing all my classes online, as we had that option at our university.

Was asleep before midnight New Year's Eve way before midnight wearing headphones and listening to music

did not hear/notice any fire crackers or fire works in the neighborhood or nearby lake.

However, I did wake up at 1 AM well rested as if I had just had slept 8-10 hours instead of 3 or four!!!

Thanks Leanne! We're doing okay here. I miss having a normal life, but then who doesn't. Just when you think things are super bad here, something worse seems to happen elsewhere, so it puts things in perspective.

As shocking as those scenes from Washington DC were, I hope it's the wake up call needed.

My hubby was able to take the first dose of the Covid vaccine since he's a police officer. In a few weeks, he'll take the booster. I'm not 100% sure when I'll get it. I admit, I'm nervous about it since it's only been authorized by the FDA for emergency use -- not FDA approved.

If we move back to face-to-face teaching in the fall, I will take it unless drastic side effects appear for many people.

They are promising to vaccinate all adults by the autumn here. Three vaccines have been approved now.

It's a huge undertaking, but they are getting it out as fast as possible here.
