Yeah, that's pretty much how I am: I don't leave my phone on all the time, because my parents are really the only ones who call me lol (and my sorority sisters too). I don't usually carry it w/ me when I leave my dorm, though @ home I keep it in my purse.

Cell phones are awesome, but make sure you get an headset for it for when you drive. BC the state I live in, has a cell phone ban when driving, unless its hands free.

I'd be so lost without my cell. I'm hardly ever at home, so if someone needs to get ahold of me, it's much more convenient for me to call my cell. Plus the plan I have (Bell Mobility in Canada) is pretty awesome, and I have unlimited minutes for the first six months. Oh and a cell phone also comes in handy if you're a text messaging freak like me.

Yeah, for the most part it's my family that calls me on it...friends, every once in a while, but usually I just give them my home phone number, and if I happen to be out when they call, I just ask my family to give them my cell number or call me so I give them a call back or something...

I use mine ALOT! Actually I only have a cell phone cause you have to pay for the phone in the dorms, it's t-moblie and we have a family plan so we can all talk for free. It's nice, especially if you can't drive or need a ride somewhere, I always keep my phone with me.

I'd say get one, I have one, too and God knows I need it.
If you won't use it much, get one with a prepaid card, at least that's what they also sell in Germany. That can come in very handy, you buy a card for - let's say - $20. When the 20 are up, you can't call anyone anymore unless you buy a new card. But you can always be called and you can still call emergency numbers even if your card has no money on it anymore. (Right now, I ask myself why I didn't think of that when I bought mine)

Oh and trust me, nobody needs a cellphone that can play a million different ringtones and whatnot. My cell can do all that, but everything I do is speak on the phone. It really doesn't have to be able to do more.
