Don't forget: most present day TV shows don't have the luxury of planning ahead several seasons, when it comes to their characters' relationships....the pressure is high, these days, to deliver sex, love, and romance, immediately!!! M&S were simply planned on a long time scale - that's the secret of their success (and the reason for failure of so many other recent TV shows' ships).

I really think I prefer characters to put in the time before jumping into relationships. I love the slow buildup.

Usually it's towards the end of S2 that I'm kind of hoping for at least a kiss.
 44 episodes should be enough build up, no? But then again how many episodes did we wait for a M/S kiss? 120 episodes and then it was poorly lit and we mostly just saw the back of Scully's head, but it wasn't even really Scully!  |

I know it was supposed to be a dark corridor, but the lighting of their kiss in Triangle was just cruel, you could barely see ANYTHING
