Has no one really talked about any season 5 episodes since 2015? wow, so many good episodes in that season too!

“Detour” being one of my favourites!

It was probably the peak of X-Files' popularity, back then.

It's hard for me to find a peak with X-Files cause when I try to separate the first 5 seasons as best, then I think it was soooo good in season 2,3,4 and 5... and then even tho I didn't watch season 6 til 2016, I'd include that season with the good ones, but I just can't find the peakiest peak.

But season 5 had many of my enjoyable episodes, Bad Blood being quite a fun one

And I liked the killer doll episode

Didn't like the introduction of Diana Fowley or Gibson, really.

And this was the last season filmed in Vancouver. Being a local, when the show moved away, I didn't have much interest in watching cause the "atmosphere" would no longer be there.
And then when I watched season 6, I was right cause it was so bright sunny and a lot of desert 🌵

Detour is a good ep. A bit like Jersey Devil and the other forest one in s1. It had a feeling of star trek where the guy in the red top always died first. The man accompanying them was always going to cop it. The only time you could hear someone after they got hit was M/S so a bit corny in that respect. Also, the fact they drive to a conference and happen to find an xfile on the way is bit far fetched. It adds to the quirky comedy of s5. Mulder is starting to slow down his beliefs and enthusiasm after the events of s4 climax.

Not a fan of bad blood. A bit silly but very well made with the alternate versions of the same conversation. Very clever.

Detour is good! Love the sleeping bag scene! I enjoyed the rare scenes where Mulder and Scully just have a casual conversations about non X-Files stuff, sounding like two human friends making conversation. There weren’t enough of those types of scenes. Scully is right, she isn’t a singer but Mulder didn’t mind.

Stacking bodies and a monster in the underground lair! And they didn’t actuallt get rid of the creature, as far as I know it’s still there, killing things?

Forgot the singing scene. Funny. Quite a number of villains are still out there

No it was a bit lame. Every time it came back. Especially in All Souls.
Just finished The End and s5 as a result. More dramatic than i remembered. Good twists. What stood out for me is how low the MS relationship appears at this stage. Don't you just feel for her when she turns up with the crucial evidence about Gibson only to seem Mulder and Diana talking, though she doesn't know he's actually defending her. 'I've done ok without you.....' ouch. Scully is at her hottest in 98 btw.

Onto the movie.......

I didn’t either, the Emily two-parter felt so random I think that All Souls is the only time that it ever comes up again? The impact on Scully should really have been followed up more than it was if they wanted to introduce that whole subplot of planning to adopt Emily, and then her dying tragically

I think so? All Souls is the one where the angel is killing disabled children, Scully has a vision of Emily in that one

Hi Andy, on because of post counts, we have a rule that if we need to add something after we post and yours is the most recent post on the thread, that we don't post directly after our own posts (double posting)

Rather, use the "edit message" link and add your thought to the last post you posted. Hope that's clear.

Yes, the hynotherapy session was in "The Red and the Black".
