No offense but this thread is for people who like Nikki so you're not going to get much agreement from us. That would probably be better in the episode thread.


The only thing i do agree with is that they introduced them poorly. But who's to say that they have no purpose? No one is even giving them a chance. Maybe they are going to serve a really big purpose.

Well, I agree with you on some things, and up until reading this i didn't know that Eko dies.. I'm watching the show right now..

But the way they introduced the characters probably could have been handled better, but here they are. And hopefully they do get their backstory to tie them into the story a little more.

I had a feeling that some people wouldn't like the new characters especially if they were going to be part of the Losties... I don't know.. I like Kiele and I'm happy to see her on a show that's so popular, and even if they do kill her off (I'm not naive, I know it's a possibility for any of the characters, case in point.. Eko.), i'll be happy that she was part of such a great show.

And I don't know enough about the characters to completely write them off already. I'm going to give them a chance.

Well, granted, Nikki and Paulo were just thrown into the mix but i'm not bothered by it. I'm enjoying the introduction of the new characters and i, for one, think the show needed it. I was not happy when the show axed off Ana and Libby and i knew Eko was going to be next. I really liked him as well but with Michelle/Cynthia's unexpected departure from ABC, i suspected they would get rid off the entire tailie storyline from season 2. Plus, Adewale and Terry were at odds with each other offscreen. Rose/Bernard were never brought on as main characters... they were only recurring ones even though they had a flashback!

I really enjoyed watching Nikki/Paulo integrate into the group's search tonight. When they are explored some more, i think we should get some interesting background information on them.

exactly.. i think/hope that all the animosity towards the new characters is because we know absolutely nothing about them..

although with all the hostility, the realist in me is thinking that the flashbacks for these two will just elicit grumbles and groans..

Yeah, i know what you mean.

Personally, i never understood how a character could be disliked before knowing anything about him/her first. I mean, like you said, we don't know anything about Nikki or Paulo yet. So far, they haven't behaved any particular way onscreen that calls into question whether or not they are bad characters. But, that's just me!

Sadly, you're probably also right on what reaction to expect from a Nikki/Paulo flashback. Unfortunately, new characters have a hard time gaining ground with the fanbase because the perception becomes that the new characters are stealing airtime from the "real characters" (whatever that is suppose to mean). See, i still like the other characters, but some of the flashbacks are boring for me now so i'll be happy to get some new flashback material from characters like Nikki, Paulo, and Juliet!!! It adds some spice to the show.

Hey, at least we'll be looking forward to them, right?

hThe way i see it is, The addition of Nikki/Paulo/Juliet isn't going to take up any more air time from the other cast members then usual because they've gotten rid of more characters then they added. (Walter, Michael (for now. idk if they are coming back), Ana, Libby, Eko) So it should all even out.

I'm looking forward to it. I like when new characters are added because it shakes things up and makes it more interesting. If it was the same characters over and over that my get kind of boring after a while. I know that I've seen a few people comment they they were sick of Jack flashbacks in after his episode this season.

however, as of right now they are listing Kiele and Rodrigo as guest stars so that kind of confuses me because they were brought on as cast members orginially.

Do you think that maybe the show is waiting to see what type of fan reaction they get for the characters before they committ to them?

Last season was a disaster because they had to write off Ana, Libby, and Shannon and now Eko (all characters i was/am sad to see go so i'm glad we have new ones). It appeared to me like they intended to replace Ana/Libby/Eko with Juliet/Nikki/Paulo; therefore, i don't know why they are being listed as guest stars or what the commotion about the airtime would be either.

I didn't hear anything about a Nikki/Shannon comparison. What is the comparison suppose to be?

idk if that's the case i hope their fanbase picks up a little. New people don't have much luck so i'm guessing they will die at least by next season anyway

Can I just say how much I love the fact that Kiele Sanchez is on the show? She's looking beautiful as always!

Kay!! I love that she's on the show too! And imo she fits in pretty well. I think it's because I am bias and so excited about seeing her on the show that I don't really play attention too much to lack of grace in her introduction.

I believe we are going to get flashbacks of both Paulo and Nikki. I'm thinking they will have flashbacks together. I wonder if they will have a whole show dedicated to them.

Awesome screencaps of Nikki/Kiele! She seems like a sweet and down to earth character thus far so i don't know why people wouldn't take to her!

As for the Nikki/Shannon comparison, personally, i don't see it except for the fact that they are both young! And if they kill off anymore of the new characters from this show i might consider taking a permanent hiatus from it! One of the main reasons i tuned into this show in season one was because they presented it as an ensemble cast/character show. It was a change from shows that normally carry a leading actor/actress while the rest are all supporting characters. Sadly, that seems to have changed though!

However, i will be looking forward to a flashback episode for her. Her character seems to be integrating well and you could see some of the sadness in her face this week when poor Eko bit the dust!
