Exactly! He never wanted to marry Kate. Sure, he was attracted to her but never once did he purchase a ring with her face in mind. His heart was stolen by a certain blond and I seriously melted at that scene.

When he said he was going to ask Juliet to marry him, that's when I started to cry. I also agree with you California, he never purchased a ring thinking he would be with Kate forever. Juliet was special and different than any of the other women he had been with and he saw a future with her. They were truly, truly meant for each other

That scene at the dock was one of the prettiest I've seen on this show and all of that is due to Josh and how beautiful he acted it out. So much heartbreak for him. SO MUCH.

Sawyer ignored Kate at the very end. When she apologized for following him, he asked her for which time. His heart is fully with Juliet. There were no double meanings in those scenes.
