Off Topic Thread #2 "Our Topics are off b/c this hiatus sucks"

Started a new thread for us to play with.

I'm really thinking I'm gonna go see Fahrenheit 9/11 this weekend. I'm hearing very good things.

Ugh, I can't STAND Michael Moore. Even if I don't like Bush much either now, MM is a big slimy propogandist. Besides the fact that the entire movie is a hatch job and out of context. The government lies? Duh, didn't need him to tell me that

Ok, heh, sorry

Man! I keep missing threads being made Anyway - I like 'Stupid White Men' but don't really care for Michael himself.

I'm kinda hot & cold w/MM myself. He's not usually the most objective documentarian & his in your face style sometimes bugs me. Although I DID really enjoy "Roger & Me" but thought "Bowling for Columbine" was really overrated. I wasn't gonna go see Fahrenheit at first but people keep telling me how good it is, so I'm probably gonna go b/c I'm easy like that lol.

I guess he doesn't really bother me either way. I thought the way he handled his Oscar speech was tacky though.

Me and my friend were discussing the new movie and she brought up a valid point, if MM was really that close to the truth in his accusations about what really happened around 9/11, he would have been taken out or something *by* the government so as to not start a panic. Maybe I've been watching too much 24, but I think it's highly possible for someone to be silences in order to protect national security, no matter how much a celebrity you are and if MM had been right on, then we would not be seeing so much of him.

I thought Bowling for Columbine was pretty overrated too. The secret to his success is the controversy he thrives on. Whether he's right or wrong, he still makes a big stink, and that's what drives his docs.

I agree with you though Nikki. If he were *that* close to revealing something the government had spent years covering up, he wouldn't have been able to get the movie released. Call it conspiracy theory or whatever, but the black suits are there if you ask me. Letting freedom ring my ass

Like in "Dick!" (giggle, giggle. ) Arlene and Betty were too close to exposing the Watergate thing, so Nixon had them (or tried to have them, apparently he couldn't outwit blonde 15-year-olds) taken care of.

And movies NEVER lie.
