You can definitely tell the writers had absolutely no idea what to do with the last 6 episodes since they had already planned what they were going to do with season 6.

Yeah, that's true about Lucas/Haley..

Oh man, I agree w/ you the second half of S5.. I was like.. Yawn.. Plus you can tell that they got so lazy during strike time and they start writing when the strike is over, but they should working when the strike is over, but didn't..

They definitely got lazy during the writers strike but at the same time I doubt that they could have actually done some writing during the strike. The first 12 episodes are suffered from the strike as well.

Season 5 definitely would have better if it wasn't for the writers strike and an couple of crappy third party storylines.

I blame Mark as well, but I think a lot of issues with season 5 could have been avoided if they thought of new storylines instead of reusing old ones.

I hate it how he gave it to different characters and we were like we already know how it ends..

It was even worse when he gave it to the same characters.

The show was definitely at it's best when it focused on the core 5.

Agreed. Mark started to give way too much screentime to secondary characters and I thought it hurt the quality of the show. Take Mouth, for example. I really liked him the first few seasons. He worked well as a side character, but in the fourth season they spent so much unnecessary time on him and his women problems, while giving little focus to NH's pregnancy. It was so annoying. I think Mark often forgot or just flat out ignored the fact that a majority of fans were tuning in to watch the core characters. Most of us weren't interested in the drama of Mouth, or Millie, or Mia, or Chase..etc.
