ETA -- Okay, here's what I posted.

I totally agree with everything the Brucas fans are saying. Good job, guys!

I also have 2 things to add:

1) Peyton spent the first six episodes jerking Lucas around, culminating in a wonderful scene in LIAGH when she pretty much convinced him that she only wanted him for sex. I always give up on the events that happen on the show when they stop making sense, and within the boundaries of the first 11 episodes, it made perfect sense for Lucas to want to be with Brooke rather than Peyton. Lucas and Brooke made each other better people; that is definitely not the case with Lucas and Peyton.

2) In "The Living Years", Peyton's father left for a three-week job. In "Crash Course In Polite Conversations", he was about to come home. This means Lucas and Brooke were together for three extra weeks that we DID NOT SEE, in which Peyton continued to NOT tell Brooke about her feelings for Lucas. If Lucas and Peyton were so in love, why couldn't they figure it out before then? The three of them had clearly been hanging out a lot (oops, did Peyton say how uncomfortable it made her at all? Obviously not!). Logically, I know why the writers did this. They wanted the show to catch up to our time. I just think many people choose to overlook this very important detail.

3) In "The First Cut Is The Deepest", when Brooke asked Peyton if she was in love with Lucas, Peyton's forhead creased and she appeared to actually been thinking about it, as though she hadn't even bothered to figure it out yet. I think she just liked the things Lucas was saying to her. And as I said, it did not make sense for him to want Peyton when he had Brooke. Therefore it means absolutely nothing to me, and Lucas said it best in You Gotta Go There To Come Back -- "Peyton and I just don't make sense as a couple." Da.mn straight they don't.

Okay, that was three things. Sue me.

Nice post, Aleah! Good point about the three weeks. It's no one's fault except Peyton's if she didn't tell Brooke how she felt.

I think Peyton is a classic example of "the grass is greener on the other side;" first she only wanted Lucas cause she was with Nathan, and then when she could have him, she didn't want him anymore. As soon as he got with Brooke, though, she wanted him all over again.


Peyton/Jake I guess. I think she's most tolerable when she's around him.
