Master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz ("Lost," "Tron: Legacy") invite everyone to join Emma Swan, Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumplestiltskin, Hook and the Evil Queen Regina as they travel through a portal on the Jolly Roger in an effort to reach Neverland and rescue Henry.
Welcome to Storybrooke, Maine, a small town that probably won't show up on your GPS, but it's a magical place to visit. Reality and myth merged after Emma broke Regina's curse, which had deprived the fairytale characters of their memories and trapped them in our modern world. When they finally regained their identities, our heroes were dismayed to discover that they weren't transported back to Fairy Tale Land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin - aka Mr. Gold - decided to escalate his power struggle with Regina by introducing magic into the town. But this is our world, and magic always has a tendency to yield unfathomable consequences.
Once Upon a Time (ABC)
Premieres: Sunday, March 9 at 8/7c
Where We Left Off: In order to save Storybrooke, Regina let Henry destroy the town, sending everyone back to where they came from. But Emma and Henry, whose memories were changed to believe they've always been together, now reside in New York, where, one year after the curse consumed the town, Hook arrived at their door to enlist them for help because Emma's parents are in trouble.
What's Next: Regina and Robin Hood's potential future will be explored in the Enchanted Forest. Pinocchio, Phillip and Aurora will return, more of Emma's past will be revealed, and more worlds will be introduced, including possibly Oz, home of Rebecca Mader's mystery character, the Wicked Witch of the West. Plus: Christopher Gorham will play a mysterious character connected to Emma and Rapunzel.
TVLine Exclusive Bombshell: A Death Is Coming
Series creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis tell TVLine exclusively that the fantastical series will be killing off a major character during the second batch of 11 episodes (launching March 9), resulting in the exit of a series regular. “The character dies, for real,” Kitsis makes clear — at which point his/her portrayer will, make no mistake, leave the show.
Every series regular cast member is a possibility – except for Robert Carlyle. The EPs have agreed to rule out that one candidate, seeing as Rumplestiltskin is theoretically already “gone” (having sacrificed himself in the name of vanquishing Peter Pan).
" Hi, Erika. Actually, Eddy and Adam said, to me, on Friday at about 7:30 pm PST on the patio at the Langham Resort in Pasadena, that a character played by “a series regular” is going to die. “Series regular” is a specific contract term that applies to only nine actors currently on the ABC programme Once Upon a Time — one of whom, Robert Carlyle, has been ruled out. By the producers. Who I spoke to. Friday. Near the crepe station." Comment by Matt Webb Mitovich – January 20, 2014 01:55 PM PST
"Hi! There is a photo gallery listing the eight and only eight possibilities."

For Episode 14, the show is casting the possibly recurring role of a teenage African-American female who comes across as skittish and timid, having had her naturally curious and determined spirit tempered by years of crippling fear. That said, when put to the test, this lass can reach within and summon the strength to be a hero. x

Nothing is more important than family, and these characters' bonds are as strong as the line between good and evil is blurry. Mary Margaret and Emma - mother and daughter reunited -- were sucked into a portal that transported them to what was left of Fairy Tale Land. It was there that they met Mulan and Aurora, who helped them evade Cora and Hook and enabled them to travel back to Storybrooke, reuniting them with Emma's father, David, and her son, Henry. But Cora and Hook found another portal into town, where Cora set about reuniting with her own daughter, Regina. Cora then attempted to find Mr. Gold's dagger in a play to take him down and become the Dark One herself. Hook had also aspired to kill Mr. Gold, not for power but for revenge. And Mr. Gold set out to find his son, Bae, which he did, in New York, with the aid of Emma and Henry. Much to everyone's surprise, Bae turned out to be Emma's former love, Neal, and Henry's father. Back in Storybrooke, Mary Margaret did something completely against her nature - she used dark magic to kill Cora - causing her own heart to darken. And Greg Mendell -- who saw magic in the town as a boy and believes Regina knows where he can find his father - along with his partner, Tamara, planned to eradicate magic completely from our world using a trigger that Regina had planted within her curse. During the struggle to save Storybrooke, Neal was shot by Tamara and fell through a portal to the Enchanted Forest -- barely alive - where he was found by Aurora, Mulan and Prince Phillip. Although their plan was foiled, Greg and Tamara kidnapped Henry and brought him through a portal to their "Home Office," believing that they might still be able to use him to destroy magic in all worlds. With the aid of Hook and his ship, Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Mr. Gold and Regina used the last magic bean to follow Henry, Greg and Tamara... to Neverland.
First order of business this season: save Henry. But Neverland is a much darker place than you remember, and in order for our heroes to accomplish their mission, they'll have to face a foe more powerful than the Dark One himself. What does Peter Pan want with Henry? Can our heroes put aside their differences and work together? Will Aurora, Mulan and Prince Phillip be able to nurse Neal back to health and reunite him with his family? New fairytale characters will be revealed and old acquaintances will be revisited. So think of a wonderful thought... because our Neverland's going to be a fever dream that just won't break.
How different is this Emma from the one we've known? Kitsis: It was an important thing. Emma, as a character, we love her. She has some new memories, but that didn't ruin her upbringing. She still grew up tough, she still grew up with a wall. It was her against the world and what we'll see is with these new memories it's now her and Henry against the world. She still is the same person, but we're going to really explore what her life is like in Episode 12 called "New York City Serenade." Source
Do the fairy tale characters sent back to the Enchanted Forest still have their memories of Storybrooke? Kitsis: Yes. They know and that gets explored. Horowitz: As we laid out in the winter finale, Emma was the one who being back there was going to lose those memories and have this new life. The fairy tale characters get left with the pain and knowledge of what happened over the years that the show has been on and what they've been through. None of that is erased. Source
What's the deal with Robin Hood and Regina on Once Upon a Time? — Maggie
NATALIE: As of two weeks ago when I was on set, Lana Parrilla told me nothing had come up in scripts between the two of them, but she expected it to happen toward the end of the season — though it might not be as easy as we'd all hope. "She's closed her heart off to any romance," Parrilla says. "She doesn't look at anyone with lust or desire. But I do hope that Regina opens her heart again to love. It's been many, many years. As much as she loves Henry, he can only fill that void for so long before he moves on and has a life of his own separate from her." Do you want to see Regina and Robin Hood together? Source

Any chance for a reconciliation between Neal and Rumple on Once Upon a Time? — Tracy
NATALIE: Now that Neal has discovered the truth about his lineage, it will open the door for father and son to finally have a relationship. "It provides an opportunity for Neal to see his father as someone who carried a burden for hundreds of years because he was hurt or embarrassed about Pan being his father," Michael Raymond-James says. "It really allows him to see his dad in a new light. That's a revelatory moment for Neal." Source
Question: Can you offer up any clues on the location/setting for the second half of Once Upon a Time Season 3 (premiering March 9)? Will it take place entirely in Storybrooke, or will there be trips to another never-before-seen world? — abz
Ausiello: Better than clues, we have cold, hard facts. More akin to Season 1′s storytelling, “The second half [of Season 3] will take place between Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest,” series cocreator Eddy Kitsis told Matt Mitovich. In other words, EP Adam Horowitz underscored, “It’s not a ‘journey to another land’ paradigm” à la the Neverland arc concluding Dec. 15. “We always have the ability and the desire to dip into other lands, which it’s more than likely we shall do,” Horowitz added, “but it will be in the way that we’ve done it in the past, as opposed to locking all of our characters onto a boat and sending them [to a new realm].” Source
Once Upon a Time‘s Rumple and Belle fans are really down right now because they’re always separated (by memory loss or worlds). Please tell us they’ll at least be in the same world in the second half of Season 3! –V
I brought your Q to the boys, and Horowitz assures the Rumbelle fans, “In the second half of the season, they are going to be in the same world for an extended period of time.” But Kitsis then chimed in: “If you’re a fan of Rumbelle, the second half of the season will further explore their relationship – in whatever state that is.” :-O Source
Monica: So excited for Rebecca Mader on Once Upon a Time! Can you spill anything on what she's playing?
She's one of the best female villians of all time, and not just in recent Disney history. This one even has her own theme music! Also, we can tell you that she is being brought in because now that Rumple and Regina have made peace, the writers felt they needed a new Big Bad and Mader's character will definitely be at odds with Regina. We will hopefully have your very first look at Mader's character (the new villain) on the night of Dec. 15 on E! Online, right after the episode of Once Upon a Time ends, so make sure you check back! I agree/disagree. I think fans expectations were too fast and too soon for their story for S2. from storytelling wise neither character was at a place for their love story to blossom. Gold finding his son was the priority from the start to explain and conclude the curse story. You are forgetting her partner, Rumplestilskin, WASN'T anywhere near ready until he found his son, Bae. His character hadn't moved enough. Rumple/Gold in S3 was phenomenally better and grew more complex and moved to a place where he could make the ultimate sacrifice.
1) I don't think anyone was expecting Rumple/Belle to be married with 2.5 children by now. There's a difference between developing a story slowly and not moving it at all... and I personally feel that, for Rumple/Belle and especially Belle, the latter has applied for the last season and a half.
2) Speaking only about Belle now, there are a lot of little things the writers could have done to give some sort of impression that they planned to involve her. Having some main characters besides Rumple talk to her, for example? To this day, I don't think Snow or Emma have said one word to her. That's just weird, and not really consistent with their characters. Maybe Belle won't suffer from her invisibility curse much longer though.
3) Can you honestly say you wouldn't be upset if your favorite character had been benched as long as Belle has been?

Thanks for the new thread!
I agree. I wanted at least more scenes with them together and more scenes of Belle interacting with the rest of the characters.
Yeah, it probably won't be easy to convince her of all of it, but hey at least it throws the "Hook stole someone's portal" theories out of the water.
I don't like Hook, but I never thought he would steal a portal. I thought he goes because Neal can't go, or because Emma doesn't remember their reunion and thinks Neal is still a jerk who abandoned her.

I've been thinking it over, and I don't think Hook, the way he's been written this season, would steal a portal--or not without more temptation than just seeing Emma again before Neal does.
Although, he can be overconfident. I could see him convincing himself he'd be the better choice (and maybe they weren't even going to send Neal, maybe Snow or Charming or someone else was the choice [Emma might not believe Snow's her mom, but DNA testing could make her believe full siblings--they have a 50% DNA match and the same mitochondria]).
In fact, a manipulative villain might go out of her way to give Hook that extra temptation. That I could see.
I think what matters is that Hook is there not just for Emma, but also for her family's sake. It's obviously important to him that she remembers so they can go back and save them.
It's possible that after a year in the EF with everyone else Hook might have become more accepted by Emma's friends and family and now feels some kind of loyalty to them.

Yeah plus I don't think people were competing who is the better choice to go to Emma. I don't see having a big meeting of who is best for Emma
I agree. I'm just imagining a horrible scene where they are sitting around talking about the pros/cons of who should go:
"Well, Neal shouldn't go because Emma won't have happy memories of him."
"But at least it's a familiar face."
"Hook shouldn't go cause the guy refuses to change his clothes and he'll stick out like a sore thumb looking for her."
"It's Neal's family."
"But Neal let Emma go to jail"
"He didn't want too! August convinced him it was for the best, but he hated himself for it."
"Too bad, so sad."
"Hook is a pirate he can sail a ship & navigate his way"
"Neal can do that stuff too"
"Only cause Hook taught him...you know, when he wanted to be Neal's dad"
"Shhhhhhhh, we don't talk about that."
"You know what, just send Hook, the Wicked Witch probably killed all the dwarves while we were talking about this."
"Cool."
End Scene.
