THE ANSWER TO LORELAI'S DREAMS - Picking up on the same night as last season's finale, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke (Scott Patterson) begin making plans for their future, but Luke (Scott Patterson) is embarrassed when word spreads that Lorelai was the one who proposed. Still hurt over Rory's (Alexis Bledel) decision to drop out of Yale and move in with Emily (Kelly Bishop) and Richard (Edward Herrmann), Lorelai tells her parents that they can take care of Rory from now on. Richard hires an old friend and respected attorney (guest star Robert Foxworth, "Falcon Crest") to help Rory get an easy sentence for stealing the yacht, but the judge gives Rory 300 hours of community service. Logan (Matt Czuchry) throws Rory a "felon" party. Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. Amy Sherman-Palladino wrote and directed the episode.

TVguide - Luke (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) fans can breathe a sigh of relief after the first episode of the new season, when we'll learn what Luke has to say to Lorelai's proposal. But that could cause chaos for the whole rest of the year. And speaking of chaotic, the rift between Lorelai and Rory (Alexis Bledel) is only going to get bigger as the teenager continues to stay with her grandparents and adjusts to her freedom from college.

Season 6

In its 5th season, Gilmore Girls blossomed into The WB's second most watched primetime show. With their trademark wit and wits, the ladies from Star's Hollow saw their fan base grow (by double digits!) in all major demos.

Lorelai (Lauren Graham) finally fulfilled her dream of opening the Dragonfly Inn and, to the delight of women everywhere, got serious with longtime friend, Luke. Rory (Alexis Bledel) furthered her journalism career at Yale and got an internship at the paper owned by Logan's dad. Yes, that Logan (formerly Mr. Non-committal), now her full-fledged billionaire boyfriend. So what bigger news could be brought about by season 6? Well, both of the Gilmore ladies will have their worlds shaken and stirred, bonding mother and daughter closer than ever. Bring plenty of tissues and cappuccino mix because the 6th season will plop major life decisions onto their collective laps.

I just thought i'd jump in on the whole Luke/Lorelai ring situation. I don't care who the frickin' ring is from, or where Luke gets it, they just HAVE to show him putting it on her finger. They have to show it. They just have to. I will be very mad if they don't because it'll be very romantic and it'll cause very many JJ's to squee.

I showed my mom (a person who admittedly only watches the show for L/L; I've tried to explain that there are other interesting things on the show)....anyways, I showed her the 6.01 pics and she said "Yeah, they're not really kissing - see how his mouth isn't even on hers? They do that a lot on tv." And I'm just looking at her, wide-eyed thinking "Why must you rain on my parade?" If she wasn't my mother I would have explained to her that they were just really getting in to character and lips were wandering. That right there is a kiss if I ever saw one...

What never was? Rory never was her daughter? Rory never loved her? The analogy between possible romantic relationship and the parent/child relationship doesn't quite fit, especially as in the next episode Lorelai is tracking down Rory during her community service time. It would have been appropriate for her to be at the hearing instead.

No.. the analogy doesn't fit them to a T or anything. It's just the sentiment of it really. I just mean that if Rory continues to enjoy and take part in the "other" world, I think Lorelai will think that obviously the relationship she and her daughter had wasn't was she thought it was. That they weren't on the same wave length. And I don't mean that as a bad thing. I'm not saying that Rory can't enjoy Emily and Richards world. It's her choice. However, Lorelai will see it as more of a personal attack. And if Rory stays in "that world" and doesn't return to "Lorelai's world" then the relationship she thought they had isn't what it is in actuality.

Ugh. I'm not making sense. And..we don't know that Lorelai is trying to track Rory down in the next episode. We know that Lorelai and Rory see each other. I mean..the reason she goes to see Rory could be to say "I want my key back." Or, more likely, to say that she is engaged. We don't even know if they talk though. If she just turns and walks away..she's still just letting Rory go. Giving her her space..and moving on with her own life.

Okay. I think I'm going to stop now. Rambling doesn't work for me.

With the whole ring discussion, I am really hoping that when (not if but when) Luke puts the ring on Lorelais finger, it fits PERFECTLY!!! I keep thinking about that OTHER guy who got her an engagement ring and how it didn't fit, and how I know if my engagement ring hadn't fit when my husband gave it to me, I'd probably have been bummed that I couldn't keep it on from that second on.
