i hope they don't have Iris say something definitive to Barry in the first episode, like "we can never be together because of Eddie" or something.

that'd be overkill.

Once again, I can't see that happening. I don't think either Barry or Iris are going to be thinking about that so soon after Eddie.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it doesnt even come up at all for the first few episodes of the season…

Candice said that Iris will be mourning Eddie at the Superman Convenction which is a given but I don't want it to take up so much time because honestly no-one was here for Eddie!

Sorry on phone can't post link.

On The Flash, Iris just recently lost her boyfriend, Eddie. As we all know that Iris eventually ends up with Barry (thanks to a peek into the future), will Iris and Barry finally become a couple in season two?

Patton: Things didn't end well for Eddie. So that's going to be a major thing that Iris is dealing with going into season two. I would imagine that she's not going to be interested in any kind of relationship any time soon. As much as she has these subconscious harbored feelings for Barry, she really did love Eddie. And she saw that through until the very end. It's important for the fans to really like Iris, and in order to do that, I think she has to grieve over the end of her relationship with Eddie. I'm assuming I can say this because there was a press release about it: they're looking for a character to come on next season, I believe, to be Barry's new potential love interest.

In the Flash comics, Iris has a sister, who is the mother of Wally West. Will either of those characters play into The Flash in future episodes somehow?

Patton: I don't know that Iris will ever have a sister. But that would not prevent Wally West from eventually showing up on our show.

Was it sad filming The Flash season finale scene with Eddie (actor Rick Cosnett)?

Patton: Was I sad? Terribly sad. Rick Cosnett has become one of my dearest, dearest friends. We shoot in Canada and it's difficult for me to be away from friends and family for nine months out of the year. And so you make friends with the people you work with. You have to. So Rick really became a person that I saw every day. And I just remember shooting that scene where he shoots himself and I couldn't get through the take. I just couldn't take it, because it was just the ugly cry and they were like 'We can't use that, the ugly cry.' It was very, very, hard, that day of shooting.

Will we see more of Gorilla Grodd on The Flash?

Patton: I hope so! Grodd is one of my favorite things about The Flash. When I was reading the first script where it hinted at Grodd, I texted Geoff Johns [DC's chief creative officer] and I was like 'We are not doing this in season one. We can't do that!' That's something you save for season three. And I think that's the great thing about The Flash and our producers. They'll always think of a great idea and use it now. They think 'Let's use Grodd in season one, this episode. We'll come up with a better idea in season two.' So we always use our best ideas the moment we get them. But yeah, I think Grodd will continue to make an appearance on The Flash.

honestly, i really don't think it's that important for Iris to spend time grieving over Eddie for fans to like her.

if Eddie was beloved among fans, then maybe, but i'm sorry, he just wasn't. he was a placeholder and a third wheel as it was- i've already almost forgotten his existence.

i know they're going to have to do a time jump before the second episode of about 5 months to catch up with Arrow, so really...if we skip the majority of her grief period i guarantee you that would be totally fine with the audience. but i'm worried we're in for something closer to Laurel in Arrow S2, just without the alcohol/drugs.

I just hope by this she means she'll be focusing on work instead of any sort of love life, which I'm fine with…

^ THIS!

I'm hoping, wishing, praying it doesn't drag out cos I like Laurel now but S2 I couldn't stand her.

Sadly fans don't want tears over randoms they want action. So I hope it's just Ep1 and continues on in a healthy way!

Yes please. CCPN stories that help move the plot forward. And damn give the girl some friends.

scarletspuffyfan 06-15-2015 03:56 PM

extensive grief only works if the audience liked the person who died as much as the character did. and that's really not the case here- eddie's very existence was to be used as a roadblock for Barry, so it's nice that he sacrificed himself, but his death was not a loss to the show in any way. to see her grieving for a long period of time is going to be frustrating.

Leelala 06-15-2015 03:56 PM

YES!!! She needs friends!! Bring back Linda and let them have a good bond… Maybe Linda can offer her a shoulder to cry on??
Thats what I always wanted for them, female camaraderie. And leave Barry the hell out of it

Dear interviewer (whoever it is) - Iris's relationship was to Wally's father, Rudy (her brother), hence Wally having the last name WEST.

Even in the New 52, Wally is still her brother's kid. Actually, Iris has two brothers: one who's a serial killer, and one who ran out on his girlfriend and son and has not been heard from since. (Iris comes from a really dysfunctional, abusive family in the New 52 - which is probably one of the reasons she's drawn to the precious cinnamon roll that is Barry Allen ;) ).

Hopefully we have her in the first episode finishing off the bulk of her grieving after five months (assuming there's a time hop), then deciding to deal with her grief in a more positive way. ie: "I'm going to help Barry protect this city in Eddie's memory" or something like that.

I really don't want Iris to be all sad and depressed and lashing out at everyone.

The Flash: Meet Detective Joe West's New Partner | Comicbook.com

Elektra 06-17-2015 03:33 PM

I prefer the second one (although I still don't want Barry to have another LI). The first one seems like she's trying too hard to be dramatic. I guess it's confirmed now that Wendy = Patty, as most of us thought.

Edited because Bree347 beat me to the punch on the link-posting ;)

For some reason the comicbook.com site never works for me, I get an error message whenever I go to the site. Can someone pls post the article here?

scarletspuffyfan 06-17-2015 04:08 PM

So, if she knows about the metahumans she's probably going to know about Barry too, right? So this is yet another person being added to the team, essentially.

i feel like the only reason they updated the character of Patty Spivot to now be a cop (when she used to be just a lab assistant) is so she can be in on the action. and if she's in on the action instead of Iris, that is just so irritating.

It reads:

I came across some more auditions, but this time they're for The Flash. They reveal that DC Comics' Patty Spivot will be joining the show.

In the auditions, we learn that Patty is going to become Detective Joe West's (Jesse L. Martin) new partner in season 2. You know, because his old partner Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) sacrificed his life to prevent Reverse-Flash/Eobard Thawne from existing.

In the first video, Patty shares a scene with West, telling him that she can be trusted even though she is still getting used to the meta-humans. In the second clip, Patty gushes to Barry about the detail in his forensic reports.

In the comics, Patty was a forensic blood analyst in the Central City Police Department Crime Lab. More importantly, she was Barry Allen's assistant and even his girlfriend. Maybe sparks will fly between them on the television series as well.
