I don't get why some don't see that it's very possible to dislike Arrow just because you don't like the show or the main characters. I know so many people who dislike both Oliver and Felicity and dropped the show. How can you watch a show if you despise those two characters? You can't since one stars and the other is so loved by the showrunner she's inserted everywhere, even in crossovers in high doses. It's just not possible. Plenty of people that don't even care about the comics or the situation with the BC/Laurel just dislike Oliver and Felicity. Both characters it seems you either love or hate, there's hardly any in between. I wish people would realize as much. It's not just comic fans or Laurel fans who dislike Oliver and Felicity or the show in general. There's plenty of reasons why people have soured on the show. It's not just comic fans and/or Laurel fans.

hmm 4b and mostly s5 Olicity weren't even together & still pple were still complaining. No L wasn't the true BC let's be real.so wat ur saying is even Olicity fans left cuz of wat happened in 4b& s5 so not everything is abt Laurel I know a lot of pple that don't like L who aren't even Olicity fans I know shocker anywho explain how so many many fans go to cons & talk abt Olicity Felicity & Diggle but yeah a lot of pple hate them & no mention of Laurel hmm

As proven by the fact that since this discussion started three separate posters have declared not to be LL stans or comic fans. Just fans of quality which Arrow started to lack from Season 3 onward.

You're right - the quality took a dive and I stopped liking the characters. Characters I once did love were now characters that were grating to me. That's why I stopped watching.

It's easier for Olicity shippers to think it's a comic thing or LL thing because it somehow plays into this idea that the only reason anyone is critical is because they have their own angle. When in fact, no that's not the case.

It's definitely a weird situation for me because I started off loving certain characters who I can't stand anymore (like if I hear their voice/see them on my other shows it's time to fast forward the scene) and I went from being indifferent about a character to supporting her and wanting better for her. For me a lot of it was fandom related as well. I hated seeing the nasty posts about Laurel and the unnecessary hate she got for just breathing.

Pretty sure I didn't say anything about Laurel being hated because of Olicity. Just that in my experience with the fandom over the years she got a lot of unnecessary hate.

I agree. It was something out of the twilight zone for me. My experience was I loved Felicity and she was my favorite character. However, as the seasons went on I couldn't stand her or Oliver. When you stop liking two primary characters there's not much you can do.

I truly believe it was the change of showrunners. Once Greg Berlanti drew his focus to The Flash and Arrow was in the hands of Marc Guggenheim everything changed.
