Bill Waterson really is awesome. I had never even read a Calvin and Hobbes until about a month ago. See, I was raised under a rock and never knew of the outside world until I married a seasoned comic fan. He said that when Bill Waterson first started out he was refused by syndicates over and over again. Calvin was only supposed to be the younger brother of one of the main characters. One of the syndicates suggested that he should concentrate on Calvin more. He got rich off of it without merchandising!!! Gawhh!!!

I'd like to have the artistic integrity to say no to merchandising, then again, I'd like to have the talent to spur someone to want merchandise from me.

Great site for Calvin and Hobbes that I recommend. Moment I found it, dropped everything I was doing and pored hours into reading all of it.

Speaking of comics-to-TV, how about comics-to-TV-to-DVD?

preacher and the league of extraordinary gentlemen would make better tv series than they would/have done films

Both of those would work better as limited series on HBO, rather than the big screen. LXG was pretty bad...

i think its enjoyable if you consider it as nothing to do with the graphic novels whatsoever- it was fun action in its own right. but completely crap compared to the graphic novels. totally incomparable

Never read it, so I wouldn't know how they compare. I'll have to take your word for it. Aside from that, I thought it was kinda subpar for an action movie, but still pretty enjoyable.

Read the first volume of LXG before watching the movie, but wouldn't have enjoyed it either way. Found it really bland, and devoid of charm...

I meant the movie, not the book; the first volume was solid.

Calvin and Hobbes- a boy and his tiger, what could be any better?

X-Men - like the 90's version that that other kind. They should even bring that back. and Make it more ensamble-ish and focus on all the chars 'cause they are all important!

The Boondocks- i just laugh when i think of where it could go.

Nightwing- what can i say? i love them tights.

I've decided that all my favorite comics would be better as cartoons. I just haven't liked any of the live action comics related shows that have come out recently. Cartoons just have so much more freedom to do 'out there' things without the restraints of money.

if i had a nicel for every comic book that was rumored to be turned into a cartoon/tvshow/movie

i'm pullin for a Jessica Jones/Alias movie. with a cameo by Luke Cage (ironically, Cage is one of those rumored to have a movie coming soon).

Cameron Diaz was supposedly going to play Tulip in a Preacher movie that never came about. i'd like to see that still.

i'd like to see an X-Men or Batman cartoon that's in-continuity with the comic books. not that the stuff out now is bad or anything, but i just want to see one that follows the comic stuff to a T.

here's hoping that Frank Miller's 'Sin City' comes out well.

I think the Boondocks are going to be a cartoon soon. I'll have to look around.

Luke Cage is going to be a movie. John Singleton is attached to direct it.

And there's a Preacher movie in the works with James Marsden as the Preacher.
