I just caught another episode of Anthony Bourdain's show, this one in Massachussets.

He was focusing on the epidemic of heroin addiction.

And, since he himself is in recovery of that same addiction, he obviously had an interest.

It was very nice to see the way he approached everyone, from dealers to cops to other recovering addicts.

No judgment, you know?

And he was very open about his own journey.

I didn't know he's dealing with that.

I'm so freaking glad I didn't get into drugs.

That sounds like an awesome episode Sunny.

Yeah, he's a recovering addict.

He references that often, in all kinds of ways.

So you know it's still part of who he is, you know?

Like, when he went to Amsterdam, he went into a "coffee house" to explore how the whole "pot is legal" works.

So you know he's familiar with that.

That's pretty amazing.

And it must offer a great and interesting perspective from him, on the subject.

No wonder you like the show, and him, so much.

I like him now, and I've never watched.

I'm just glad you enjoy him and his shows so much.

That's sometimes hard to find on TV.

I usually enjoy shows that have to do with cooking.

Now, his shows aren't precisely about food.

He mostly does travel, politics, and meeting people from wherever he's travelling to.

But he's a former chef as well, so food is always in there as well.

Yeah, those are the ads I've seen of him-cooking and eating were what they were about.

There's less cooking and more eating on his shows than on most cooking shows.

But that also means there is more appreciation of the food.

I'd love to learn to appreciate food more.

Doesn't he try lots of different kinds of food, that might not seem appealing?

Or do I have him confused with someone else?

Well, I suppose it could seem like he tries a lot of unappealing food.

I mean, the whole point is that he visits the world, right?

So what they eat in Ethiopia or the Sumatra isn't the same thing as we eat here.

Heck, what they eat in Lisbon isn't the same thing we eat here.

That's what I mean about him not being fussy.

He's critical, but he's not about to turn his nose at what people eat wherever he happens to be.

Yeah, it just seems like weird food to me, because I'm not adventurous with food in any way.

I think he's very kind to do that-to always eat what is put in front of him.

Not being adventurous with food is completely okay and probably the right way to put it for you.

But I don't think he's being adventurous exactly.

Like, he's not eating anything that's dangerous.

He's just eating the local food.

And a lot of it seems to be pig, which isn't really all that different from what we have here.

It's just prepared differently.
