 I thought it would be funny to start the new thread with just that quote from the old thread.

Problem is, I don't really know where to go from there.

We were just agreeing that it's important to do our best.

There You'll Be 08-26-2015 04:42 AM

:lmao: Wow. Where do we go from here... thinks of Buffy the Musical song.

What are you reading? Still about Catherine?

Edited because I forgot to say Thanks for this new thread, too, Sunny.

You rock. :D

I'm still reading about Catherine, though a little less these days.

I got caught in a bunch of chick lit books.

You know, books where they kiss at the end?

I just get swallowed by them. :)

There You'll Be 08-28-2015 03:17 AM

I don't know if I've ever ready any of them.

I tended to go for self-help and Stephen King and VC Andrews, which didn't have a lot of happy endings.

I'm so glad you have them and you've been enjoying them.

sunnykerr 08-28-2015 09:01 AM

I love chick-lit books, when they're well written.

Bad writers or stories that make no sense exist in all genres, including chick lit.

But, when it's done well, chick lit is such a joyful little genre.

It's funny and touching and sweet.

It's about women who have real problems, but who find solutions.

It's about families and friendships.

And it always ends well. That's important to me.

There You'll Be 08-29-2015 06:54 AM

Hm, I may have to look into those to start my reading enjoyment again.

Give me some titles & authors if you still have them. :)

Look at me, being all bossy. If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate it.

Happy endings sound very appealing to me.

And I'm so glad you like them so much.

sunnykerr 08-30-2015 08:39 AM

I like British authors best, personally.

Milly Johnson is great. So's Jill Mansell.

If you prefer to stick with American writers, Cara Lockwood was good. Except don't read Pink Slip Party. That one was annoying.

How's that?

There You'll Be 08-30-2015 05:04 PM

That's great Sunny!

Thank you!

sunnykerr 08-31-2015 04:04 PM

There's one of Milly Johnson called Here Come the Girls.

It's really, really good. Like, it might be one of my favourites of hers.

But I would like to give you the heads up that it has four women and they all have experiences with being not treated very nicely.

There is no violence in it, but three of them are involved with not very nice men and the third had a difficult childhood.

It's my favourite because all four women find joy and happiness, in large part through the friendship they develop between them.

I did want to forewarn you, though, because of the not nice men they start off with.

Another favourite of mine is The Birds and the Bees.

No warning for that one. :)

There You'll Be 09-03-2015 04:47 AM

Thanks for letting me know, Sunny, cause I'd have started reading and been like "this doesn't seem like a happy book"

I love friendship stories-and how people grow and change through their friendships.

So that one will be a big hit for me, too.

sunnykerr 09-03-2015 06:50 PM

I love Milly Johnson because her books end well, but people have realistic struggles, you know?

It's not empty happiness, you know?

The women you root for get to a happy place and they deserve it, you know?

And that book especially is awesome, because it's about the women becoming stronger together. But that also means they have problems.

It's that thing where you can tell someone deserves better than what they accept, what they have. And the books are awesome because they're about the women figuring that out for themselves.

There You'll Be 09-04-2015 08:05 AM

That book/books/theme is something that will really work for me.

Thank you for telling me about her, and the types of books they are.

Going to look when we go to the library, and if they don't have them, my next stop is Amazon.

sunnykerr 09-05-2015 09:10 AM

That's what Milly Johnson does best, as far as I'm concerned.

She introduces the reader to lovely women who aren't being treated well and then she has them find the strenght to go after their happiness.

And she always has female friendships, which is an important thing to me.

Because it's a real universe, you know? The women need to realize they deserve to be treated better, but they need support, too.

Oh, and of course she has lovely men who have the emotional depth and maturity to treat these women the way they deserve to be treated. :)

There You'll Be 09-06-2015 03:38 AM

All of that sounds absolutely awesome, and right up my new alley.

I'm sure I'll be thanking you for introducing me to Milly, and her stories.

I think I'm going to really enjoy them.
