So that there's very little accumulation.

I'd almost be tempted to think that it's mostly the wind pushing the snow around.
This is the first year here, that I remember, where we had nothing more than flurries.

Still have chances for snow, but at least it's not a ton, and November again.

Is that good for you, since you have to walk a lot of places?

I mean I'm sure it's plenty cold anyway, but does having wispy and less snow better?

You did great in starting the new thread.

So much so that I even hesitate to ask why you didn't wait for the old one to be over!

Thanks for starting it, though.

The amount of snow we get has no relation to my ability to walk places.

The crucial bit is how the city reacts in terms of shovelling the sidewalks and spreading abrasives on the surfaces.

Right now, they're doing really well in my neighbourhood.

Earlier in the winter, that wasn't the case, so that there's a two-inch layer of ice on the sidewalks.

There's been more snow since, so that has accumulated on top of the ice, making it way easier to walk.

I figured it was okay to go ahead and start it before we got to the end.

I was just remembering to pay attention to the numbers last night, when I hadn't been checking.

Yikes on the ice.

That would make me lock myself in my house. Especially the way I've been going.

That's good you've got snow over the top now so you can get traction, and don't easily lose footing.

I mean, it's all good, but just so that it's been said... the idea is to start the new thread once the old one is over 300, not before 300.

No worries, okay?

You did a great job here.

As for staying inside because of the ice, well, that's not an option for me.

And it's really okay, isn't it?

It's not that bad, really. Even when it's really bad, it's not that bad.

At worse, it just means I'm a lot slower getting there.

And, of course, I'm reducing my movements.

Okay.

Well, that's good it doesn't make things too much worse for you on the ice.

It's like anything, right?

You live with it long enough and you learn to adapt.

I suck at walking on ice.

But I've found come coping mechanisms and it works out in the end.

Heh, I get all mad about something like that, having to do it, and then in time I get over it, usually pretty quickly.

But my first instinct is to resist.

Then I realize I've got to figure out a way.

I would get mad, probably, if it was new to me.

But this is winter in Montreal.

Heck, it's the way winter was before I moved to Montreal.

It's like you said earlier, nature is always going to be unpredictable.

To a certain extent winters aren't exactly predictable here, but you know to expect certain things, like snow, cold and ice.

It's not pleasant and I don't enjoy it at all, but it has always been this way, so I've learned to cope.

Yeah, I guess you get used to where you live, and the adjustments you have to make, and what you have to deal with.

In Wa. State, I hated the gray, rain days that were most of the time, and the cool temps all year round.

I worked nights to avoid seeing the gray skies. It's how I adapted.

You're good to have been willing to work at nights to do that.

I could never do that.

I get depressed enough in the wintertime because we get less sun, I don't think I could survive if I worked at night.

I loved it.

Now I don't.

But back then, I had the best time working nights.

Aside from dealing with drunks at 2am.

That would be really hard for you then.

Never, never move to Washington State. That's when I first started having real issues with depression.

The funny thing is I do best in rainy weather.

Of course, I've never been through prolongues rainy weather.

A week is perhaps the longest I've experienced rainy weather.

But it is my favourite sort of weather, because it's not so cold and not so hot.

And I don't have the glare of the sun either.

Yeah, I can see how that would work for you.

I have to be in a certain mood to appreciate rainy days.

And I can only take a few at a time.

I'm sure I'd get sick of endless rainy days.

I've just never been through that...

At least, not that I can remember.

And, honestly, it doesn't even have to rain either.

I'm not a fan of the rain.

I just like the clouds defusing the sunlight.

I like that the weather is usually neither cold nor hot.

That's what I like.
