Yeah, Jimmie's definitely doing better than me in the health department.
It helps him, in the race car, to be in such great shape. Cause they drive like 400 miles in some races. Even if it's in circles. Yeah, I think a lot of people have come to not take Denny very seriously. That's true. I keep forgetting to tell you, Nicholas Brendan is going to be on Dr. Phil's new season, on Wednesday. He storms off the stage when Dr. Phil says he smells alcohol on him. Anyway, he's there to salvage his life and career. Do you get the show there? If not, I'll definitely let you know what happens and what he says. I'm recording it. __________________

Well, I don't watch Dr Phil.
I'm sure he's a good psychologist (I looked it up, he's a psychologist, not a psychiatrist). But, as someone who's been through therapy, I do feel icky watching anything resembling that being made into a product for entertainment. I think Nicholas Brendan may need help. I don't know him at all, so I'm not about to make any pronouncements on that. But, if Nicholas Brendan needs help, it needs to be real help. If you do see it, tell me what you thought. I really won't mind hearing all about it. But I can't watch it. __________________

That makes sense.
I read Dr. Phil's books, and they helped me a lot, so I watch-for entertainment. Not every day, but sometimes. Yeah, I'd say Nicholas needs help for sure based on his arrest record, and just what I saw happen to him during Buffy, and his pain killer addiction. Who knows why he went to Dr. Phil. I'll let you know if anything worth talking about is said. __________________

Like I said, I'm sure he's a great psychologist.
And I'm not surprised to hear his books have helped you. He seems like he would be a very helpful sort of advisor, if you will. I'm just not sure I'm ready to watch that sort of thing as a form of entertainment. But I'm glad you enjoy it. Do let me know how Nicholas fares, though. I really hope he finds the help he needs. __________________

That's exactly it! He's an advisor.
And he provides the expert help to the guests, with the connections he has, and gets them expert help. He had flown in expert help for Brendan, but Brendan took off, so nothing evolved there. All the help he needed was provided for him, but he said he was there to talk about depression, not about his life. But he wrote Dr. Phil for help. He's 50,000 dollars in debt, arrested 5 times in 8 months for drugs and alcohol, and is addicted to both. And, he does suffer from depression as well. __________________

It seems like Nicholas wants help, but he wants it on his terms.
It's hard to know what went on beforehand that he thought he was there to talk about depression only to find out that he would be confronted about his addiction issues. I mean, I'm on board with the fact that he needs help. But, in my limited experience, you can't force people to make good choices. They have to want it and they have to be ready to face all that it implies. Sounds to me like he wasn't ready. __________________

Hopefully, he gets ready in time to save his life.

That ended up being what Dr. Phil said-until someone truly wants help, they can't get it.
I agree, he definitely wasn't ready. I hope so too. OT here, but I will be sending your package in Oct. I may have money left, so I can send it this month, but I'm not sure yet. __________________

No worries on packages.
It's just common sense, isn't it? If someone doesn't want help, you can't give it to them. __________________

I was thinking that last night when I was watching the Emmy's.
Jon Hamm won for his work on Mad Men and he's had a tough year, personally. At least, that's what I hear. He went to rehab for something. So, clearly, he wanted help. And, unless I'm mistaken (which is entirely possible), I think he thanked his ex in his speech. So, if that's true, it means he's got decent awareness going on. __________________

Sounds like he has a lot of awareness going on.
I kinda worry about those actors who get in trouble that way. You never know which way they'll go. At least he seems to have come out on the good side. __________________

Oh, for sure, we never know how actors who get into addiction problems will end up.
I don't worry about it so much because I don't really know any of them, you know? I wish the best for them, but after that, it's their lives. The rest is up to them. Besides, I have plenty of people I know to worry about. I don't need to go borrowing trouble. Mostly, though, I don't worry about people I don't know. __________________

Sunny-let this go to 299 and I'll start the new thread tomorrow when I'm on.
True-I don't know any of them either. And I can only care so much. If it is someone I like, I'd probably care a little more. You do make a good point though. I only worry so much, and that's usually just at first when I find out, if I'm surprised-like Heath Ledger. __________________

Erm, so it's at 299...
But, if you want to start the new thread, I don't mind. Anyway, I agree that some celebrity crises or deaths are shocking because we're surprised. And it's sad, of course, when some dies the way Heath Ledger or Paul Walker did. They died so young, and leaving children behind. Still, I didn't know them, you know? So I move on. __________________
