I never got to see this one. It only stayed at my theater one weekend. (Meanwhile, Cheaper By The Dozen, which opened Christmas Day, is still playing.) I'll definitely be renting it when it comes out on DVD though.

I love this movie so much! It only stayed in my theatre a week, and now it's only playing like 60 miles away yet some other movies that opened way earlier (didn't Calendar Girls come out late Nov., early Dec.?) are still playing, grr.

I just read that there are no extras on the DVD, which comes out later this month. The whole point of DVDs is the fact that we get bonus material. I wonder why they're not putting anything on it.

Dione, it is supposed to open on April 23 in the UK, so it'll be soon!
Lonely Smile, there will be some extra stuff on the DVD, where'd you read there won't ? Posted by Carol on the Topher Grace thread Last update 4-15-04 Disc Review Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! DreamWorks Home Entertainment / 2004 / 97 Minutes / Rated PG-13 Street date: April 20, 2004 Reviewed by Peter M. Bracke on April 11, 2004. (Bio / Equipment list) What has happened to the teen romantic comedy? It is a sorry state of affairs for the genre: you have to go all the way back to 2001's Save the Last Dance to find a genuine hit, with the past couple of years littered with bombs - Crossroads, From Justin to Kelly, What a Girl Wants, Chasing Liberty and the recent The Prince & Me, to name but a few. And add to that list Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, an innocuous farce that came and went last winter in the blink of an eye, causing barely a ripple at the box office and destined to sit on the dusty back shelves of Blockbuster. "Imagine meeting your favorite big-screen idol...and he winds up idolizing you!" (Woo-hoo!) That is what happens to Rosalee (Kate Bosworth), a star-struck small-town girl who wins a date with Hollywood hunk Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel). But it is a cynical stunt arranged by his agent and manager, both named Robert Levy (Nathan Lane and Sean Hayes), only soon Tad has fallen hopefully in puppy love with the unadorned Rosalee. But her dream-come-true is a nightmare for her best friend, Pete Monash (*Topher Grace*). He's been hopelessly, secretly devoted to Rosalee since they were kids. Now, with Tad about to whisk Rosalee off to Hollywood, Pete is going to stand up for the girl he loves. Who will get the girl by the time the end credits roll? You know you are in trouble when the funniest bit in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton is a Paris Hilton cameo that was left on the cutting room floor. This is one of those comedies that, even with lowered expectations, just does not click. Maybe it is the lack of chemistry between Duhamel and Bosworth. She's rather annoying and he's a lunkhead, but even if you can't blame either actor for the underdeveloped characters they are given to play, you also cannot give them props for rising above the material. Only *Grace* is able to give his Pete some genuine humanity and recognizable pathos. And providing the flick's only big laughs are Lane, Hayes and, in a far-too-limited supporting role, Gary Cole as Rosalee's wise if dopey dad. It is fair to say we don't go into a film like Win a Date with Tad Hamilton expecting Shakespeare or even inspired high-concept filmmaking. But the film is still a disappointment coming from director Robert Luketic, who had previously managed to create such an appealing hit out of 2002's Legally Blonde. Here, his direction feels flat. None of the scenes come alive, and it is only the self-conscious if enjoyable mugging of the supporting players that brightens up the screen. And given such ripe subject matter for a teen romantic comedy - Tiger Beat Hollywood insipidness clashes with small-town naivete - it is amazing the last person we'd want to date in the world after this movie ends is Tad Hamilton. Video: How Does The Disc Look? Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! looks great. This is one of those bright, appealing modern movies that is tailor-made for DVD. The print is pristine, blacks rock solid and contrast excellent. Colors pop off the screen - smooth, vivid and free of noise or bleeding. The level of detail is also well above-average and often looking three-dimensional - and there is no edge enhancement to mar the fun. The only complaint I can muster is that some shots suffer from a bit of grain, but it is the only blemish on an otherwise spotless complexion. Tad Hamilton should do adverts for Clearasil. Audio: How Does The Disc Sound? While not as exciting as the transfer, the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track included here is perfectly respectable. Frequency response is groovy, with smooth midrange and sweet highs. Dialogue is always clear and intelligible, with sharp stereo separation across the fronts, especially with the numerous pop songs. Surround use is typical for a light comedy, meaning sporadic with only a few noticeable discrete effects. The .1 LFE is reserved but healthy enough for a film of this type. A nice soundtrack. Also included is a French Dolby 5.1 dub, along with English, French and Spanish subtitles and English Closed Captions. Supplements: What Goodies Are There? Given the film's less-than-rosy box office, the lack of extensive supplements here is not a surprise. The main attraction are the 15 deleted scenes. About half of these scenes are extensions, not new material, but there are some funny bits with Lane and Hayes, plus the excised Paris Hilton cameo. Most intriguing are the alternate opening and ending, although they aren't any better than what is in the finished film. All of the deleted material is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen. Next up is a fairly funny 5-minute gag reel, which will also be a must-watch for Duhamel's teen fans, as he shows his ass in the last shot. Also included is a pithy still gallery with a few production and publicity shots. Rounding it out are the stock if welcome DreamWorks extras: filmographies for the main cast and crew, a few nice production notes, and the film's theatrical trailer in anamorphic widescreen. DVD-ROM Exclusives: What do you get when you pop the disc in your PC? There are no PC enhanced extras on the disc. Parting Thoughts Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! is hardly a terrible film, just bland and forgettable. Which is too bad, because it had a lot going for it, including fine supporting performances, a snappy visual look and a potentially timely milieu. As a DVD it also rates just average, because despite the great transfer the supplements are just OK. Only give Tad Hamilton a rental on a Saturday night if you can't find anything better on your video store shelf. The gag reel was ok. Nothing spectacular. And the deleted scenes weren't anything spectacular. Glad the Paris Hilton thing was cut because it was just a bit on the corny side (ok, extremely corny).
The movie itself was cute. Extremely predictable, but that's to be expected. But I do have to say that if I didn't already love Topher, I definitely do now. He was adorable. __________________

I got the DVD today, and I liked the deleted scenes. Especially the original begining, that was such a moment I could relate to.

I watched it and was disappointed...
It moved to fast for me, I mean after one date with a innocent gal, he is in love and it was so predictable... I mean it went from her winning, to their date, to him chasing her, to them dating, to her going to california with him.. I mean that was way to fast for me and the whole Pete line was not done right IMO, I mean I truly love Topher Grace, he was the best part of the movie, besides, Josh's abs, but I wouldn't watch it again... Thier was no build up to the moment with Rosie and Pete at all. I give it a thumbs down.. Sorry I give Josh's abs and Topher a thumbs up though __________________
