^ The irony of them being on lockdown (in a manner of speaking), too
One of my favorite films of all time. John/Claire possibly my favorite movie couple ever __________________

I re-watched it recently and the trivia really is interesting for this movie

I love the contained feel of the movie as it adds to the tension between everyone, but my gosh, it is eerily prophetic of today's times and the feeling of entrapment

I think it’s really interesting though to watch this thinking from the perspective that Allison is actually in a mental hospital and everything that’s going on is in her head and the other characters are different facets of her personality
interesting theory explored in this podcast ep https://soundcloud.com/flashbackflic...ebreakfastclub starts at around the 23 minute mark just updated the OP hope you like it Last edited by atwoodsmariano; 03-31-2020 at 02:29 AM |

A podcast Will listen to it when I get the time

Lots of people said similar things about FRIENDS possibly being in Phoebe's head. And she had a very similar personality to Allison. So, does this mean that Allison always wanted a Cinderella type of ending? She cast herself in that role and included supporting characters because she wanted to see people of diverse backgrounds coming together and finding connections with each other. That is such a cool theory. Quote:

I don’t think I’ve heard of the Phoebe Friends theory before
I’m gonna have to look it up |

That theory is probably way too ambitious but perfect for a fan theory, and really reminds me of certain scenes in BREAKFAST CLUB where the characters get high and start chatting away about weird stuff and Andrew has that weird dance moment where you don't know if it's real because he literally breaks the glass __________________

I love the way the movie played out, too
and apparently they considered doing a sequel that would be filmed/set 10 years later where they visit the original characters, BUT (according to ~sources~) the director John Hughes found Judd Nelson so difficult to work with first time around that he opted out of it ...Hope that's not true. Hughes did have clashes with Nelson but it's undeniable for me that Judd was the main reason why this movie is so re-watchable. He gave such an intelligent and charismatic performance as the vulnerable bad boy who Claire falls for. Judd being difficult to work with can easily be explained as him really getting into character and needing to be a little mean to people for the purpose of getting the movie right. I think the actor who played the Janitor agreed with this. __________________

^ OMG Feels like yesterday that it was the 30th anniversary
I watched ST ELMO'S FIRE the other day and I couldn't get used to seeing the actors of Allison and Bender playing a couple Way too weird. __________________

currently re-watching with commentary with Judd and Anthony on the DVD because I haven’t before
didn’t know about the cut dream sequence that would’ve been a cool interesting scene and feel like it supports the theory that we discussed earlier https://lostmediaarchive.fandom.com/...Content_(1984) Last edited by atwoodsmariano; 04-29-2021 at 04:28 PM |

Aww my copy doesn't have a commentary
I recently found the video on youtube from ages ago that has a deleted scene of a Bender/Claire kiss in the janitor's closet It was only ever shown in a trailer, apparently - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3WY6LkX_SE __________________

I love the scene where Bender and Claire are in the closet and he's finally open & honest with her.
"Were you really grossed out by what I did with my lipstick?" "Truth?" [nods head] "No." He just let his macho act fade for this scene and gave in. Such a relief for them and for the audience. __________________
