It is, isn't it?

My cousin's coming over for a cup of tea tomorrow and I now have to decide what I will offer.

i've always like B&W photo. the vintage ones are windows to what life was in a different times.

there's always time for a cup of tea.

a friend of mine living in Ireland has sent me a tea maker and some tea. it was so kind of him.

That sounds awesome, Mandie.

I love black and white pictures, too, Tracy. For exactly the same reasons.

What's a tea maker?

Another classic case of having different words to describe what (seems to me to be) the same thing. I call that a steeper.

It's awesome to have a steeper on hand.

I'm looking forward to hearing about Mandie's chai tea. I have a few versions I really like.

I'll have to wait till Mandie gets back to us on the brand of her chai tea to know if I've treid it. I've tried some, but not a whole lot.

I generally like chai teas, though.

If it says tea maker on the tin, then that's what it must be called by more people than you as well.

it says "oriental tea maker". it was sent to me from Teabox directly from India. they have a lot of chai there. International shipping is free after 75$ (USD). it's not too bad in terms of price. i'm more concerned taxes at customs.

Taxes at custom or whether things will make it across borders would also be top of my mind.

Wouldn't it be funny if "oriental tea maker" and "tea steeper" go back to the exact same word in Punjabi, Hindi or whatever Indian dialect? The important thing is that it's really cool. I'm surer you already know this, but it's also super useful to make "ice" teas. You just make the tea in the device extra concentrated and put ice cubes in the recipient below...

Chai tea is definitly Indian. To the point where, and I'm probably wrong, but I think I read somewhere that "Chai" is an Indian (no idea which dialect) word for tea. I watch a lot of cooking shows, so it's also possible that I got that notion from a cooking show and they were wrong. Either way... I vaguely remember that the base of it (black tea, honey, milk) doesn't change, but the spices that go in it can change from region to region, so that "chai tea" isn't necessarily one specific combo.

And now I think I know which type of tea I'll make today.

My tea steeper's been well used. I'm glad to share the experiences I've had along the way.

As I've mentionned before, I'm not in the habit of putting milk in my tea, so I've never put any in any chai I've had. I might try that at some point...

In the meantime, David's Tea's got it's semi-annual sale on. There are a lot of teas being sold with a 50% rebate, so (to no one's suprirsed) I've stocked up.

I keep having to remind myself not to sign up for the David's Tea's subscription box. I'm so used to automatically buying everything David's Tea has to offer...
