Well, the original writer is Chris Columbus (he also wrote "The Goonies" and directed "Adventures In Babysitting", "Home Alone", "Mrs. Doubtfire and more) is back on board writing the script, so that's a good first start. It is supposed to be a straight sequel. No remake/reboot.
