That was good.
I wouldn't have brought David Tennant back as a completely new incarnation of The Doctor, but with that ship having sailed, hanging a lampshade on the fact that Ten and Fourteen are physically identical despite not being the same incarnation was imperative, and RTD handled it well. I'm a bit worried that some of the less than desirable elements of the Who fandom are going to try and use the story's explanation for Rose being trans as a way to attack and demean the character, but hopefully those voices won't be amplified and the positive responses will outweigh the negative __________________

I enjoyed it
I know the twist with who the villain was will probably be criticised for being predictable as well, but I think it really worked in terms of the contrast of what you see and what you get. Those parts of the fandom are always going to have something to say, but hopefully most people will know not to give them an audience. I love Rose, and the explanation was interesting. I was somewhat expecting Rose to go with them at the end. |

I haven't watched much Doctor Who in the past few years. I saw the last episode of the 13th, but I was super excited for this one.
I wasn't disappointed, it felt new and fresh despite having old faces back in it, the drama was massive, the special effects were awesome. The storytelling was like Doctor Who of the past, fun and surprising, not preachy and dull. If it carries on in this way, I think Doctor Who will have a new lease of life. I really hope it will. __________________

Not having the same connection with the 10th Doctor, I didn't get anything from the reunion with Donna. And the messaging was very heavy handed, like slamming into a giant speed bump at 150mph. Subtly, what on earth is that???
At least the new TARDIS looks good. I guess that will be staying on for the next Doctor. It will be a waste to bin it after only three episodes. |

I'm not, no. I don't mind the show putting social/political issues under a microscope, as it has been doing that almost as long as the show has existed. But the total lack of subtlety that I can't get over.
What is a "Male presenting Timelord"? And, "something a man wouldn't understand"? I mean, he has only been a Timelord for longer than either Donna and Rose existed, and then some. It's this Chibnall level writing that concerns me for the future. Unless there is a big improvement in the quality of the writing, I will probably drop out of watching again. I can't believe this is from the same writer who gave us the Yana twist from Utopia. |

I love the episode. It was S4 and 10 and Donna's dynamic that made me love the show so this ep really hit me. And of course they had to show a flashback of the Doctor and Donna's time together before.
That scene of Donna remembering everything and David & Cahterine's acting. I like Rose too and it was funny every time Rose was called, 14 was like "WHAT?" The Meep was indeed cute until it wasn't anymore and I just want the creature gone. The whole thing with that storyline was a bit weak imo and I feel like The Meep was easy to defeat BUT given that these are specials and we're only getting 14 and Donna for 3 eps then it's okay. Overall it was a good episode and there was a lot of fighting and action too. I lwish we got more of Rose. And the TARDIS!!! I love it! Nothing too fancy or crazy and I like the simple design. __________________
