Whoo hoo

Lol tbh I felt the same way Cornish Pixies from HP yep I see that hahah

It was a fun episode, nice to have Christmas specials back tbh I missed them.

Ruby and doctor are fun .. next season will be amazing.

See my fav is the first episode, seeing doctor and Donna again was so much fun .. but I did love seeing Wilf... see I knew he was in it cause I saw set pics.. did you want to be spoiled?

I also really like Ruby's backstory so I am hoping she does eventually find out who her mom is.

I actually kind of wish I did. I wasn't expecting to see him at all so I was shattered when I saw him.

I think so because if we don't meet her, then that's a letdown story-wise.

Actually in the 1st ep when they mentioned that Wilf was still alive, I was wondering if they were gonna show him but I didn't think any of it and thought it wasn't possible because of his age so seeing him in ep 2 was a shock for me.

Yes, this was my thought too. The're probably going to do a River Song-like reveal for Ruby's mom. They just can't do it that way and then drop it once everything is over.

I just rewatched The Star Beast right now after having finally seen The Power of the Doctor and, while I still wouldn't have made the creative choice that RTD did, I'm more okay with said choice now than I was even when TSB originally aired because I've now seen everything that led up to RTD and Tenant's returns and can more comprehensively judge the execution, which honestly works pretty flawlessly.

Another benefit of rewatching with added context is that, without all the emotional baggage of the news about Tenant's return dragging me down, I can better appreciate the humor that RTD put into the story, such as Sylvia's attempts to prevent Donna from seeing Fourteen and Fourteen awkwardly thinking that Wilf was dead.

Rewatching also helped me appreciate some things - such as the misdirection with The Meep - better/differently than I did the first time, but also made me hate a few things - such as Donna spilling coffee on the console - more than I originally had.

Now it's on to a rewatch of Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle tomorrow, and we'll see if rewatching changes my opinion about the former being bad.

Bump.

I was sad when the Doctor Who! Verity! podcast went on hiatus at the beginning of last year (2023), but haven't had the opportunity up til now to listen to their return coverage of the Fourteenth Doctor Specials and The Church on Ruby Road; that's going to change in two weeks, though, as I start a Series 14 rewatch (on Mondays) in the lead-up to May 10th and the return (debut) of new episodes.
