Maybe because of fan expectations and the internet can get really savage with critiquing the show. But they can't really stop anyone from not watching right?

We don't know that for sure. I think if Bill meets someone during their travels, they might give her one.

I'm reading some rumors that Pearl will leave after S10. Nothing is official yet, these are just rumors but two things I want to say: if it's true she's leaving then we'll start with a clean slate for S11 (new showrunner, doctor & companion) and the other thing is THAT SUCKS because I think she'd make a great companion and I'd like to see her in more than 1 season.

But even Freema & Catherine only did 1 season. The difference is Pearl is "new" to TV so I'm thinking she'd most likely do another season (hopefully).
